Early years

David Moyes was born April 25, 1963 to a Scottish family in Glasgow. From childhood, he liked football and the Celtic club. Naturally, he also wanted to play this sport. And the dream came true. Young Moyes was accepted into the Drumchapel Football School. In the youth team, he played there for two years - from 1978 to 1980. And then he moved to his beloved Celtic. Together with this team, he became the champion of Scotland, having played there for three seasons.

He spent a considerable amount of time in the Dunfermline Athletic team. For this club, David Moyes played 105 matches and scored 13 goals. He stayed with the team for three years, after which he was bought out by Hamilton Academical. However, there he is onlyentered the field five times. The best results were shown in Preston North End. Start coaching

David Moyes took over as manager in 1998 at the same club where he ended his playing career, Preston North End. At that time, the Scot already had a coaching license. And if it were not for his skills and predisposition to this activity, then Prestorn North End would have taken off from the Second Division to an even lower one. Moreover, the following season, David brought the club to the fifth line of the ranking, which gave the team the right to fight for promotion to the big leagues. And in the 1999/2000 season, this was done. And Prestorn North End played in the top flight.

The contract was signed for five years, but already in 2002 Moyes moved to Everton, and in the first match he led his new team to victory. Thanks to him, this club also retained its position in the Premier League, finishing the season in 15th place. And the following year, Everton reached seventh in the rankings, thanks to which David Moyes, whose photo is provided above, was officially recognized as the manager of the year.

What happened next?

In 2004, Moyes decided to strengthen the squad by acquiring new players. Several good players left the club at the same time, including Wayne Rooney. Then he said in his autobiography that it was Moyes who forced him to leave the team. David was outraged by this andsued the player for defamation. In 2008, the conflict was settled - Rooney pleaded guilty, paid the coach 500 thousand pounds as compensation for moral damage and publicly apologized. And Moyes transferred the money received to the fund of former players of Everton FC.

David stayed in this club until 2013, for 11 years. There were both ups and downs. But, of course, there are more victories. David Moyes is the manager who won 150 Premier League victories with Everton. He also led the team to the UEFA Cup.

Recent years

In 2013, David Moyes, whose biography is impressive, moved to Manchester United. The first months things were going well, but in April 2014, Manchester United lost to Everton, because of which they lost the opportunity to get into the Champions League. So Moyes was promptly fired.

For about six months, the coach was in a free search, but in November he was invited to Real Sociedad. The contract was signed for two years. But the results that the team achieved under the guidance of the Scottish coach did not suit the club's management, so Moyes was fired again.

But not so long ago, at the end of July of the current 2016, David headed Sunderland. The coach himself said in an interview that he was very happy to become part of the "black cats" and inspired by the idea of leading them to good results. Which is not surprising, because Moyes spent more than one, not two, and not three hundred matches in the Premier League. Everyone would be happy to return.

Moyes can really be a good mentor. After all, he was recognized as the coach of the year according to the LMA three times. It was in2002/03, 2004/05 and 2008/09. And ten times he was recognized as the Premier League coach of the month. The most recent is in March 2013.

But for now, Sunderland are in last place in the Premier League table with two points in their pocket. Last season was not very successful, but the club managed to avoid the relegation zone, being in 17th place.

By the way, it is interesting that in May this year, Moyes was invited to talks with the management of Aston Villa. There were rumors that the Scot could become the head coach of the Birmingham team. Moyes accepted the offer to negotiate, but as a result decided not to lead the club.
