A house with an interesting history

The house in which the National Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics of the city of Kirov is located has a surprisingly interesting, rich history.

It wasbuilt almost two centuries ago - back in 1858. The owner was the merchant Shuravin, but the house was rented out, so different people lived here, including the family of Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky - from 1873 to 1878

Many years later, already in Soviet times, the Tukharinov family also lived here. Yuri Tukharinov - Colonel General, who led the entry of Soviet troops into Afghanistan. He also became famous for the construction of many military facilities in Central Asia.

In Soviet times, the house was rebuilt several times - in 1960 and 1980. As a result, the interior and layout were significantly redone.

In 1968, the first memorial plaque appeared on the facade - in memory of Tsiolkovsky. The second plaque, dedicated to Colonel-General Tukharinov, was fixed on the facade relatively recently, in 2007.

The Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics itself opened its doors to visitors in 1988. The grand opening was attended by V. P. Savinykh, a native of Kirov, a pilot-cosmonaut and twice Hero of the Soviet Union, A. A. Serebrov, a pilot-cosmonaut and Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as the granddaughter of K. E. Tsiolkovsky and his great-grandchildren.

This exposition is an important part of the composition of the museum. Studying it, you can see numerous items that were used by the inhabitants of the house at the time when the family of the great theoretical scientist lived here, who paved the way for humanity into space.

In addition, here are storedphysical instruments used by scientists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries during their research. It's amazing how with such primitive tools they made the greatest discoveries that changed the world forever.

Exhibition of V. P. Savin

No less interesting for visitors is another exposition, which the Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics of Kirov can boast of.

It is dedicated to pilot-cosmonaut Viktor Petrovich Savin. He is the 100th astronaut to take off from the surface of planet Earth. He was also twice awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union, received the title of honorary citizen of Kirov and the Kirov region.

Museum Branch

Perhaps even more interesting for young visitors is visiting the Children's Space Center, also located in Kirov.

It opened quite recently - March 12, 2018. And the exhibition halls will attract the attention of both children and adults for a long time, who have not lost their curiosity with age.

For example, the hall of manned astronautics will showvisitors to many examples of equipment and tools that are currently used on the ISS. Here are the personal belongings of the astronauts, transferred by them to the museum fund. Satellite models and special devices will interest any fans of the theme of space.

You can also see here unusual hygiene products used by workers in Earth orbit, and even a real Orlan space suit, which is used during spacewalks.

Interactive room is very interesting. Numerous exhibits in a playful, accessible form show how certain natural phenomena operate, how habitual physical laws change in conditions of weightlessness and deep space. Anyone can create a small cloud, generate electrical energy, or even launch a small tornado!

Experienced guides will show visitors of all ages what the equatorial arc is, how a black hole works, why the seasons change, day and night.
