Zaryadye is a park being built in Moscow on the site of the former Rossiya Hotel. According to the project, the green zone is conceived as a combination of urban and natural landscape, a unique pearl that adorns the city. It is planned to collect a huge number of plants from all over the country in the park. And the projected Philharmonic Hall promises to become a modern world-class concert hall, attracting not only citizens, but also numerous guests of the capital. Thus, Moscow will soon acquire a new calling card.

The idea and start of construction

The idea of creating a green zone appeared three years ago. And in 2013, an international competition was announced to develop a concept for the construction of the Zaryadye park. The winning project is the creation of the American company Diller Scofidio + Renfo. By the way, these are the authors of the famous New York High Line green zone.

The construction of Zaryadye Park began this spring. It should be completed in 2017, by the celebration of the 870th anniversary of Moscow. The cost of construction may be about 150-200 million US dollars, and it will be carried out entirely at the expense of the city budget. The project is also significant because no new parks have been built in the capital for almost fifty years. Therefore, the discoveryZaryadye promises to be a truly large-scale event.

Park concept

Without a doubt, it is worth saying a few words about the winning project. The general concept of the park is based on the principles of landscape urbanism. This means that the project is based on the close interaction between the city and nature. It cannot be otherwise, because Zaryadye is being built in the center of the capital, in close proximity to the Kremlin and Red Square.

The park will combine the characteristic features of the adjacent territories. These are the historical quarters of Kitay-gorod, and the lush Kremlin gardens. At the same time, the unique diversity of flora will be presented in the park. It is planned to collect trees from all over the country, recreating the four landscape and climatic zones that exist in Russia. These are forest, tundra, steppe and water meadows. They will intersect and mix intricately, creating a peculiar and unique look of the green zone. It is interesting that visitors will not be imposed certain routes for walking. Trees will grow freely.

Note that it is planned to connect seemingly incompatible landscapes with the help of modern microclimatic technologies: temperature regulation, wind and artificial lighting. Thanks to this, the conditions will always be comfortable for visitors: warm weather in winter and comfortable in summer will be maintained at some sites. Therefore, Zaryadye is a truly unique park.

Construction progress

The creation of the green zone began this spring. ATIn particular, the underground pavilions of Zaryadye Park are being backfilled with earth. The fact is that under the hotel complex "Russia", on the site of which construction is underway, there is a large number of multi-level areas that need to be cleaned and leveled. This part of the work will take about six months.

In the near future, the creation of a foundation pit for the Philharmonic will begin. Interestingly, everyone can watch the progress of construction. This became possible thanks to a special information pavilion. It works every day and is a unique gallery depicting the past, present and future of the district, how the grandiose project is being implemented and the Zaryadye Park is gradually emerging. When all the planned facilities are built, the pavilion will organically fit into the boundaries of the green zone and, possibly, will be included in the number of attractions. It is interesting that in the evenings the pavilion glows, attracting tourists.

Philharmonic on the territory

The modern philharmonic society promises to become the pearl of Zaryadye Park. According to the project, the main hall will accommodate about one and a half thousand spectators. It will also host chamber concerts, which can host up to 150-200 visitors. The Philharmonic in Zaryadye Park and its acoustics are being developed together with leading experts from Japan. Prior to that, they studied sound at the Moscow Conservatory.

The construction of the Philharmonic is planned to be completed by the opening of the park. The mayor's office of the capital believes that it will become a world-class object and a worthy contribution to cultural life. Moscow. Interestingly, both the Philharmonic and the open amphitheater will be located under a transparent dome made of glass. It will protect park visitors from the scorching sun and rain.

It is planned that the open amphitheater will accommodate about four thousand spectators. It will broadcast events that take place in the Philharmonic, as well as open concerts. A special microclimate will be created under the dome - it will always be warm there.

Underground parking

In addition to the park and the Philharmonic, it is planned to build an underground parking lot on the territory of Zaryadye. It will occupy an area of about 37,000 square meters. Its construction is already in full swing: the foundation slab is currently being poured. Parking will accommodate up to five hundred cars. This will help relieve some of the tense traffic conditions in the central part of the city.

Vintage Entertainment

Zaryadye Park in Moscow will become not only a bright project and a comfortable place to relax, but also the heart of native Russian entertainment. We are talking about the iconic landmark of the capital - Pskov Hill.

As the architects of the project expect, in winter it will become a central place for fun sledding and festive carnival events and festivities. This will be the main snow hill of the city with a roll out to the river. According to some metropolitan historians, its restoration will be a true revival of the Russian spirit.

A bit of the history of Zaryadye

Zaryadye is the historical part of the capital. It was formed in the XII-XIII centuries and was the main trading area.

In 1534-1538, the Kitaygorod wall was built to separate Zaryadye from the Moskva River. But in 1782, the area regained landfall thanks to the Break Gate.

The fire of 1812 destroyed all the houses in Zaryadye. The new buildings were made of stone. At the same time, various shops were located on the ground floor, and the owners of the shops located below lived on the upper ones.

Everything changed again in the 30s of the last century - the demolition of the historical district began, affecting even the ancient wall of Kitay-Gorod. In Zaryadye, they were going to build entire complexes of multi-storey buildings. However, these projects were never implemented. And only in the 60s the Rossiya Hotel was built here. But already in 2006-2007. it was demolished as part of a project to restore the area to its former appearance. In its place, Zaryadye will be built - a park that so intricately combines the past and the future.

Zaryadye is the pearl of the capital

By combining historical flavor and modern technologies, natural resources and urban architecture, Zaryadye promises to become a favorite vacation spot for residents and guests of the capital. Its area will be more than 13 hectares. According to the project, Zaryadye will be able to receive more than ten million visitors a year. And this means that the changes will also affect the transport infrastructure of the capital.

For the convenience of visitors, traffic will be reduced, and the number of sidewalks, on the contrary, will be increased. The parkwill offer its guests a wide variety of entertainment: walks in picturesque gardens, exciting winter sledding, fishing, as well as concerts at the Philharmonic and live performances. Both world-famous artists and young musicians will perform. At the same time, concerts will be held free of charge.

Within the green zone, it is also planned to place an observation deck "floating bridge", from which the surroundings will be perfectly visible; a mesmerizing ice cave, as well as numerous cafes, cozy restaurants and souvenir shops.
