Zelenogorsk is a small resort town located just 55 km from St. Petersburg. Once this settlement belonged to Finland and was a holiday village. Many locals still even remember the Finnish name of their city - Terioki. Today Zelenogorsk is included in the Leningrad region. Many tourists come here in the warm season to relax and visit local attractions. One of them is the Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Leisure.

History and modernity of the park

According to information from authoritative historical sources, the main green recreation area of modern Zelenogorsk was created no later than 1954. Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Leisure is relatively small, its total area is about 27 hectares. The layout of the recreation area is typical for resort towns. The main entrance to the park is located in the city center, and the central alley leads to the coast of the Gulf of Finland. When creating a recreation area, three streets of the city were included in its compositionZelenogorsk: Gavannaya, Teatralnaya and Malinnaya. They have retained their names, but are officially pedestrian alleys closed to cars.

According to the memoirs of old-timers, in the 20th century there were casinos, restaurants and dance floors in the city park. Today, of the old buildings on the territory of the green zone, only the dilapidated Summer Cinema remains. It is unprofitable to restore the building, the administration plans to demolish it and build a modern entertainment facility on this site.

Today the Zelenogorsk Central Park of Culture and Recreation pleases its guests with a landscaped area. Pedestrian alleys are paved with fresh tiles, there are enough benches for rest for everyone. In the summer, the recreation area is surrounded by greenery, flower beds are broken here, a fountain works. There are many modern decorative sculptures on the territory of the park, with which you can take interesting photos for memory. There is also an alley of attractions, most of which are designed for children and teenagers. What is especially nice, the cost of all entertainment is quite reasonable.

On the territory of the recreation area there are kiosks where you can buy souvenirs, snacks and drinks. The most hungry vacationers will surely enjoy the menu of a local Italian restaurant. If you are looking for a place to live temporarily in the city, you do not have to leave the Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Leisure. Recreation center,consisting of several guest houses, is located in the far secluded part of the green zone. Book here in advance during the active tourist season.

Golden Beach

After walking along the central alley right to the very end, you can go to the Golden Beach of the Gulf of Finland. Here you can sunbathe and admire the incredible views. Somewhere in the distance, large ships are sailing, from Zelenogorsk you can admire the cathedrals of Kronstadt and the new residential complexes of St. Petersburg. Be careful, swimming in the Gulf of Finland is not recommended! But, despite this official warning, many vacationers visit the Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Leisure in order to cool off. Golden Beach pleases with a sufficient level of amenities. There are free showers and changing rooms.

Sights of the recreation area

Be sure to go to the monument to Georgy Vitsin when you decide to visit the Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Leisure. Zelenogorsk is the birthplace of the People's Artist of the USSR; a sculpture of this talented person has been installed in the main city recreation area. There is also a comic monument in the park - the bronze boots of a summer resident. This object is notable for the fact that everyone can take a picture, "shoeing" in immortalized shoes.

On the territory of the recreation area there is a museum of retro cars. The ticket price is symbolic - 100 rubles per person. The collection containsquite rare and interesting specimens. During a walk in the park, you can also visit a small petting zoo-farm. Also, quite recently, a wind tunnel was built in the recreation area - a popular extreme attraction.

How to get to Zelenogorsk PKiO?

Zelenogorsk is a small town, and the central park is one of its main attractions. From St. Petersburg by private car, you can get to this settlement along Primorskoye Highway. Shuttle taxis depart daily from many metro stations in the northern capital to Zelenogorsk. Minibus K-400 departs from Lenin Square, K-680 from Prospect Enlightenment. You can also get to Zelenogorsk from the Finland Station. Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Leisure is located in the very center of the city. The main entrance to the territory is located on the side of the Primorskoye Highway.
