In the north-west of the Krasnodar Territory there is a steppe region. How much it does not look like the famous resort of Sochi with its modern Olympic facilities. The quiet, measured life of the steppe is only disturbed in places by river valleys and gullies. And the ancient mounds are waiting for their time, when archaeologists will reveal their secret. The settlement of the Yeysk fortification, located at the mouth of the Yeya River off the coast of the Sea of Azov, is waiting in the wings.

Geographic location

The western part of the Krasnodar Territory, washed by the Taganrog Bay of the Sea of Azov, is a steppe plain. Only two small rivers Eya and Yaseniya feed her land with water. River waters are highly mineralized and not suitable for land irrigation. Moreover, the banks of Yeya are very swampy, covered with reeds. It is on its banks, not far from the mouth, that the old settlement of the Yeysk fortification is located - one of the eight administrative centers of the Shcherbinovsky district.

The Shcherbinovsky district of the Krasnodar Territory is not the most attractive place to relax, however, in the summer there are many tourists with small children on the beaches of the estuary. History of the formation of the settlement

In 1774, the war between the Ottoman Empire and Russia ended. Under the terms of the peace treaty, the Crimean Khanate was granted independence. Shahin Giray, supported by Russia, rushed to the throne of the khanate. But his time will come later, but for now he is located on the shores of the Sea of \u200b\u200bAzov. Later, this place will be called the Shagin-Gireysky town or the Yeysk fortress. In winter, it was used to place the Kuban redoubts, created by the great Russian commander Suvorov.

Already later, in 1792, after the fall of the Crimean Khanate and joining Russia, the development of these territories began. The regiments of the Black Sea Cossack army were located in the Yeysk fortification. Since then, the name has stuck with this place.

Civil War Period

Before the transition under the control of Soviet power, the right bank of Yei belonged to the area of the Don army. Yeysk fortification consisted of 784 yards with 5311 inhabitants. The population was mainly engaged in fishing. The fair was held annually. The parochial school worked.

The transition to Soviet power was not easy. The civil war in the Cossack region blazed with full force. Of the inhabitants of the settlementthe most famous was the fiery revolutionary Gaidukov V. F. A talented organizer, he and his Red Guard detachment successfully fought against General Alekseev.

Already after the complete victory of the Soviet government and the end of the Civil War, in 1934, the Yeysk fortification became the center of the Liman region. In 1953, a new reorganization took place, the district was liquidated.

Today

Since 2004, the settlement has been endowed with the status of a municipality. The municipality has 9491 hectares of land, including 305 hectares with the status of settlements. 2167 people live in the territory. 813 farms have been registered, including 675 as personal subsidiary plots. The main agricultural enterprise LLC "Limanskoe" is engaged in the cultivation of grain and animal husbandry. There is a secondary school, a kindergarten, a hospital. There is a house of culture with a library. Branch of Sberbank of Russia opened.

Not far from the settlement on the shore of the Taganrog Bay there are two resort areas of local significance Glafirovka and Shabelskoye, popular recreation areas for the local population. In addition, the coastal reeds of the Eya River are rich in game and are a favorite place for hunters. For lovers of quiet hunting, the Yeisk estuary has always been an attractive place. Here you can successfully fish in summer and winter.
