The year 1742 in the Russian Empire differed little from previous years. The youngest daughter of Peter I, Empress Elizabeth, ascended the throne. The reforms laid down by the great emperor continued. Internal customs duties were abolished, and trade revived. St. Petersburg flourished. Moscow, as the old capital, has received significant advantages and has been constantly expanding.
History of Oleniy Val Street
The old fortifications of Moscow by 1742 no longer corresponded to the current situation. In terms of order, the city needed protection from the troubled suburbs. The construction of the Kamer-Kollezhsky shaft began. An earth embankment 37 km long formed a new border. The entrance to the city was controlled by 18 outposts. But already 100 years after the start of construction, the value of the rampart ceased to satisfy the conditions of our time. The outposts were liquidated, the decision was made to remove the earthen fortifications. Streets began to form along the rampart. Lasta major project to build fortifications around Moscow was never carried out. The ring is not closed. The resulting streets had a different fate. Many began to play a significant role in the life of the city. Some of them have dissolved like courtyard passages. Some have become part of a major road junction of the third ring road. Another fate awaits the Deer Wall.
Street layout
Kamer-Kollezhskoe fortification separated the ennobled Sokolniki Park from the Deer Grove, part of which is now known as Deer Island.
The section from Sokolnicheskaya Zastava to the Yauza River remained deaf for many years. Civilization seems to bypass it. Quiet Moscow st. Oleniy Val begins from the square of the Moscow Firefighters with a tram ring. The path of the 4th route runs parallel to the Bogorodskoye Highway, along the green zone. The movement of cars is not provided here. After 900 meters, after the Jaeger Pond, a motor road appears parallel to the tram line. Two transport sections are connected by a 200-meter section of Korolenko Street. The tram line goes to Bolshaya Deer Street, and the road along Oleny Val after 800 meters rests on the embankment of the Yauza River. Further Glebovsky bridge, and Bogorodsky Val begins.
