In the view of the majority, Moscow is a large metropolis associated with St. Basil's Cathedral and a group of skyscrapers in the Moscow City business center. However, on the territory of the capital, you can walk through the forest and go fishing without leaving the Moscow Ring Road. The Eastern District of Moscow is an ideal place for both wildlife lovers and families.
Izmailovsky Forest
Approaching the Izmailovskaya metro station, people unfamiliar with this area are shocked: the train emerges from the tunnel, and you find yourself in the forest. The only ground station in the Eastern District of Moscow is unique in its own way. The train literally rides along the edge of the forest.
Izmailovsky forest park is one of the largest forest areas in Moscow. It covers not only Izmailovo, but also such districts of the Eastern District of Moscow as Perovo and Golyanovo. In fact, you can walk to the Enthusiast Highway through the forest, listening to birdsong and feeding squirrels.
There are several lakes on the territory of the forest park, where in summer you can watch sunbathers and children feeding ducks, and in winter - numerous skiers. Also, avid fishermen with fishing rods sit here all year round.
Izmailovsky Park
Fans of a more organized entertaining family vacation will appreciate Izmailovsky Park, adjacent to the forest of the Eastern District of Moscow.
Here you can:
- ride the rides;
- enjoy the stunning view from the ferris wheel;
- go boating or catamaran;
- shoot at the dash;
- play with huskies and tame squirrels;
- go to one of the handicraft workshops.
The park is divided into entertainment and sports parts. The second one has tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, and in winter there is a huge skating rink.
The Ferris wheel is one of the largest in the capital. It offers a view of several districts of the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow at once: Izmailovo, Sokolinaya Gora and partly Perovo.
While the children are having fun in the educational and game center "Firefly", you can spend time with benefit. Especially for sports parents, yoga classes and fitness exercises are held every morning in the summer.
Izmailovo Royal Estate
If you prefer to go to museums in your free time, then in the royal estate "Izmailovo" there is a great opportunity to join the history right in the bosom of nature. The estate is inextricably linked with the Romanov family, especially with the name of Peter I.
It was here, in the barn of the Linen Yard, that young Peter I found an English boat, which later became"grandfather of the Russian fleet", which is currently stored in St. Petersburg. It was first launched in the Izmailovsky Ponds surrounding the estate.
Currently, boats are available for rent during the summer. Everyone can feel the indescribable feeling of sailing in the very place where the Russian fleet was born. The pond surrounds the estate, so you can fully enjoy the view of ancient architecture from the water.
In the center of the estate there is a monument to Peter I, surrounded by flower beds. If you wish, you can sign up for a tour and see the entire island and buildings from the inside.
Music lovers will also be pleased: in the evenings, concerts of classical music and folk songs are often held here to coincide with the holidays.
Izmailovsky Kremlin
The prefecture of the Eastern District of Moscow is quite far from the center, but if you suddenly want to visit the Kremlin, there is no need to take the metro. It has its own Kremlin, though not so ancient, but very beautiful.
Izmailovsky Kremlin looks like a real palace from a children's fairy tale. It is also called the “gingerbread complex” for its colorful popular look. It is precisely for its picturesqueness that the newlyweds have chosen the Kremlin: weddings are often held here and wedding photo shoots are held. The territory even has its own registry office and the church of St. Nicholas, where you can get married.
The Kremlin is the perfect place for a family vacation. Children will be happy to visit the Museum of Russian Toys, look at Baba Yaga's house and take part in workshops on makingrag dolls and clay pots. Parents can keep them company, but if you are not a fan of this pastime, you can leave the children and go to the weekend fair yourself. Opening day is also open all week.
There are rather unusual museums on the territory of the complex. For example, the museum of vodka and the museum of bread. If looking at the exhibits suddenly breaks out appetite, then there are establishments with traditional Russian cuisine nearby.
All these attractions are located in the Eastern District of Moscow, within the limits of Pervomaiskaya, Izmailovskaya and Partizanskaya stations, so on a day off you can have time to walk through the forest and see museums.
