At first glance, it seems that the modern world has been studied enough. After all, scientific and technological progress has reached such a level that scientists have probably revealed all the secrets. But this is far from the case.
Mysteries of nature still exist today, unusual, shrouded in superstition and scientific hypotheses, beyond any explanation.
Let's touch the most amazing of them by lifting the veil of mystery.
Mystic Crooked Forest
This pine forest, located near the Polish city of Griffin, has more than 400 hundred trees, the curved trunks of which, as one, point in the same direction. Rising above the ground, they bend in an arc in a northerly direction, and then, straightening up, stretch up to 15 m. The mysteries of nature do not end there. The forest has another oddity - no sounds are heard in it. Grasshoppers do not chirp, birds do not sing. Complete silence.
Scientists have been struggling with the causes of this phenomenon for more than 80 years. Some believe that the trunks were bent due to temperature changes and strong winds. Others suggest that tree parasites that undermine the trees are to blame. Still others blame the negativeenergy that changes the direction of pine growth.
Locals joke, explaining that the trees are specifically facing north so that no one gets lost in the forest.
And the Crooked Forest itself is sullenly silent, not revealing its secret to anyone.
Valley of Wandering Stones
Mysteries of nature are found in every corner of the globe. In the state of California (USA) there is one unusual plain, located on the site of a dried-up ancient lake. In fact, this is a desert without water and vegetation, on the surface of which stones are scattered. That's what they're all about. It turns out that these stones move on their own on a completely flat area, covering 15‒20 cm per day, which is reflected in the name of the area - the Valley of Wandering Stones.
Scientists are trying to explain these mysteries of nature by seismic activity, strong winds or rain. But there is practically no precipitation in the valley, and the stones, some of which weigh about 500 kg, are unlikely to be moved by the wind.
But the indigenous people are sure that the stones are moved by evil demons.
Ink Lake
In the vicinity of the city of Sidi Bel (Algeria) there is an unusual natural lake. The mysteries of nature (photos show them in all their glory) of this area are amazing. The lake is not filled with water, but with real ink, so there are no plants or fish in it.
Scientists fought over this phenomenon for a long time and yet found out the reason. It's all about the rivers that flow into the lake. One of them has dissolved iron s alts in large quantities, and the other, flowing throughpeatlands, contains organic compounds. Their waters, merging in the basin of the lake, enter into a chemical reaction, as a result of which real ink is formed.
Opinions of local residents are divided on this matter. Some are sure that these are demonic tricks, and call the lake the "Devil's Eye", while others benefit and jokingly call it the "Inkwell".
We have a long way to go with something supernatural, amazing and even mystical. Riddles, secrets of nature are inexhaustible, and I would like to solve each of them.
