The future tycoon was born in the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky, which is located in the Yaroslavl region. It happened on September 26, 1955. Sergey spent almost all his childhood in his hometown, where he graduated from high school.
But, having received a certificate, he went to study in Ufa. Here Sergey Veremeenko entered the Ufa Oil Institute, which he successfully graduated in 1978. The meeting between Veremeenko and Sergei Pugachev, which happened in 1989, was fateful. Together they organized a common business for the production and sale of labels.
In 1991 Pugachev registers "Northern Trade Bank". As for Sergey Veremeenko, he becomes his partner and opens a branch of this organization in Moscow. A year later, the branch is renamed into "International Industrial Bank". And in 2003, Sergey Alekseevich Veremeenko became the managing director of this financial structure.
Alas, the friendship of the two entrepreneurs did not last long. After Sergei Veremeenko put forward his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic of Bashkortostan, their relationship with Pugachev began to gradually deteriorate. In 2004, Sergei Veremeenko became Vice President of the Russian Academy of Engineering. He also takes over the management of the International Institute for Investment Projects and Construction Economics.

Sergei Veremeenko was married three times. His first wife, Alla Gennadievna, is his business partner and co-owner of a stake in Mezhprombank.
