In Russia, museums where you can see the bones of giant ancient pangolins are available in many large cities. If you want to immerse yourself in the era of dinosaurs, then by all means visit one of these establishments, for example, in the capital of our country. Dinosaurs in the museums of Moscow, of course, are not real, but only in the form of skeletons, but this does not make them less interesting and surprising for true connoisseurs of natural science.

Palaeontological Museum in Moscow

Hiking in it will be especially interesting for children, because they are naturally curious and inquisitive. Children are interested in everything unusual and unnatural. Dinosaurs in the museums of Moscow will cause a lot of impressions in the child.

One of the museums is named after Yu. A. Orlov. It is rightfully one of the largest institutions in the world dedicated to natural history. Paleontological Museum. Yu. A. Orlov is an integral part of the Institute of the same name of the Russian Academy of Sciences, dedicated to the evolution of the organic world, originated 65 million years ago on our planet. You can see the skeletons of dinosaurs (the museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm) at the address: Profsoyuznaya street, 123. How to get there

The route to get there is easy. For example, you can get to it along the streets of Academician Kapitsa, Vvedensky, Ostrovityanova or through Novoyasenevsky Prospekt. It is this route that will most accurately lead you to the dinosaur museum. "Teply Stan" is the metro station where you should get off if you decide to get to this museum by train.

What can you see there

The exposition area of the Paleontological Museum is almost 5 thousand square meters. The exposition, decoration and interior allow visitors to plunge headlong into the era and atmosphere that reigned throughout the main time of the existence of our planet. Here, on the example of several thousand different exhibits, one can follow all the stages of the formation of the organic world on Earth.

The Moscow Museum of Dinosaurs (the photo is presented in the article) consists of several large halls. In the first one, you can get acquainted with paleontology as a science and learn in detail what paleontologists do. In the second, you will plunge into the era of the early Paleozoic, with your own eyes you will see rock prints of ancient plants, shells of mollusks that lived about 200 million years ago, etc.

Of course, there are no dinosaurs in the second room yet, because at that time mainly invertebrate organisms lived in the aquatic environment. Nevertheless, within the framework of this article, we are interested in the ancient lizards. Their skeletons can be seen in the last halls of the Moscow Paleontological Museum. They are the ones that cause the most excitement among the public. It is understandable. So, what are the brightest and most interesting dinosaurs in Moscow museums?

Tyrannosaurus

This natural history institution has, perhaps, one of the most chilling exhibits - the skeleton of a dinosaur-titan! This is the most important lizard of all times and eras of our planet. According to experts, he lived in the west of modern North America (then - the island of Laromidia) about 65 million years ago. Tyrannosaurs were one of the last lizard-like animals living out their lives already on the "sick" planet. As you know, trouble overtook them from space. Tyrannosaurs crowned the Age of Dinosaurs.

Diplodocus

Another bright representative of the ancient lizards, whose whole skeleton adorns one of the halls of the Paleontological Museum of the capital of our country, is diplodocus. These giants existed during the so-called Jurassic period and died out about 150 million years ago. Diplodocus had a truly gigantic size of a clumsy, but long torso.

It was their size that made them famous: diplodocus became widely known as one of the longest dinosaurs in the entire existence of lizards on Earth. According tosome paleontologists, diplodocus reached a length of 55 meters, and weighed up to 112 tons. Thanks to the coordinated work of scientists and researchers, this species of pangolin is one of the most studied among all dinosaurs that have ever inhabited our planet.

Where else can you see dinosaurs in Moscow

Dinosaurs in the museums of Moscow are not the only extinct reptiles whose surviving skeletons you can look at when visiting the capital of our country. For example, in December 2014, an Argentine exhibition called "City of Dinosaurs" opened at VDNKh (now VVTs). You can get to it at the address: Moscow, VDNKh, pavilion No. 57. According to the organizers, the exhibition will run until March 11, 2015.

Please note that this is not a full display of true ancient lizard skeletons, but just an animated entertainment activity for children. This also includes an educational program in the form of a science laboratory, where children can take part in the excavation of dinosaurs (a giant sandbox is presented). The program includes both a 3D cinema and an attraction where you can tame and even ride an ancient reptile.
