Introduction to the rifle unit

A bit of history

Design work on this model of hunting weapons began in the early 1990s. By 1996, the "single-barrel" was ready. Immediately, the first limited batch of these guns was produced by the factory workers. Description

TOZ-119 hunting rifle with chrome-plated bore and 70 mm thin-walled chamber. The latter is adapted for paper and plastic sleeves. This model has a barrel pressed into the clutch (receiver). USM is located separately at the bottom of the receiver. During disassembly, the barrel can be separated from the receiver. For the manufacture of wooden parts, the manufacturer uses high-quality beech or birch wood. If the gun is made to order, then they can use a sparkling nut. A wooden surface with a beautiful brown tint, which, judging by numerous reviews,owners like it more than red. The butt with the receiver was connected with a through screw. The handguard was made detachable. Its fastening with the barrel is made by means of a special latch. In order to minimize pain during shooting, a rubber recoil pad was installed on the butt. Device

On a detachable barrel with a chrome channel and a chamber, a small front sight and a rear sight were placed, which is attached to the breech by means of a dovetail groove. Unlike TOZ-18, in this model the barrel is locked with a movable frame.

It opens after pressing the lever, after which this frame will move to the side and become on the stopper. It is pressed out by the barrel hook when the shooter starts to close the barrel. The lever spring will begin to act on the frame, as a result of which it will go beyond the hook cutout and lock the gun. A similar design, according to experts, is used in many "shotguns". For the extension of the sleeve from the chamber, the usual ejector (extractor) is responsible.

How to charge?

To equip a gun with ammunition, it must first be opened. For this purpose, you need to press a special lever behind the safety bracket.

Thanks to this design, fast reloading became possible. The thing is, you can do it with your right hand. It is not necessary to tear it off the butt. It is enough to press the lever with your finger and the barrel will immediately fold down, after which access to the chamber will be free. The extractor extends the spent cartridge case, which must be removed and new ammunition put in its place. The gun is then locked with a grappling hook.

USM

The place of the trigger mechanism and the external trigger was a separate base at the bottom of the block. The trigger can be installed on the combat and safety platoon. Initially, he stands on the battlefield. After the striker has been hit, it is automatically set to the safety one. In this position, he stays if the gun is closed. Thanks to this design feature, a blow to the striker is completely excluded if the spoke is suddenly hooked in a random way. With the barrel open to the end, the trigger, having fallen off, will not hit the striker. The fact is that the gun was equipped with a special emphasis. It is located on the locking frame, which does not go into the cutout of the barrel hook. The trigger mechanism provides the trigger with a smooth descent.

TOZ-119 has the following parameters:

• The weapon is equipped with a choke of 0.8 mm (for calibers 12 and 16), 0.7 mm (20 gauge), 0.6 mm. (28), 0.5mm (32 gauge) and 0.4mm (32).
• From a distance of 35 m, the accuracy of combat for 12 gauge single-barreled shotguns is 55 m, 50 m for 16 and 20 gauges, 45 m (28 and 32) and40 m ([TOZ-119]-410).
• 12, 16 and 20 gauge shotguns have 711mm barrels. The length of the barrels in other modifications is 63.5 mm.
• Total length TOZ-119-12/16/20 - 113.1 cm, other models - 105.1 cm.
• Weigh 12 and 16 gauge guns no more than 2.5 kg. The weight of TOZ-119-20/28 is 2.4 and 2.3 kg. Shooting units of 32 and 410 calibers weigh 2.2 kg each.

What do hunters think about weapons?

Judging by the numerous reviews, TOZ-119 is more convenient to use. This is due to the fact that an external trigger was introduced into the design. The fact is that the hunter does not need to open the gun to see if he is cocked. Thanks to such a trigger, the TOZ-119 16-gauge single-barrel and subsequent modifications have become much safer to use. In the event of a misfire, the trigger is cocked again. Thus, in order for it to come into contact with the primer of the cartridge, it is not necessary to open the weapon. When the trigger is released, the sights are closed, which signals to the hunter that the gun is not ready to fire.

Another plus of the weapon is that the receiver has a rather large length. This makes it possible for the shooter to additionally equip the rifle unit with an American-made Lyman adjustable and folding ring sight. It is installed behind the outer trigger. The presence of such a sight will not only have a positive effect on the accuracy of the battle. According to experts, with this type of sight, a hunter can shoot ahead of a moving target. Many hunters also like this weapon because, compared to a double-barreledit weighs relatively little.

According to some owners, the locking mechanism can sometimes stick. However, as experts assure, the reason for this is not a factory defect, but improper operation. For example, if you do everything according to the instructions, namely, press the unlocking lever, then close the weapon, and slowly release the lever itself, then there will be no problems with locking. If, on the contrary, the barrel of the gun is slammed vigorously, then the locking mechanism, designed for a force of not more than 10 kg, may break.

There are also complaints about the quality of the fly. According to the owners, the manufacturer turned it rather roughly and not symmetrically. Other owners of these hunting rifles claim that the quality of the front sight is acceptable, since these shortcomings are almost not noticeable during aiming. In addition, the height of the front sights can vary markedly in different guns.

Another disadvantage of this rifle unit is that it is more convenient to aim if the trigger is cocked. The reverse situation is when deflated. In this case, the trigger spoke will close the rear sight slot. The fact is that the spokes are not made along the axis. However, this can be attributed to the fact that the guns are presented by the first experimental batch.

This model is light, maneuverable, very practical and easy to manage. These single barrel shotguns are ideal for sea hunting.

According to experienced hunters, various upland and waterfowl are hunted with gunscalibers 12 and 16. TOZ-119-20, judging by the reviews, is considered universal, since it is suitable for hunting not only birds, but also large animals. The owner of this modification only needs to have good shooting skills, since the bullet should be sent to the slaughter place. 28 and 32 calibers are designed for hunting small fur-bearing animals. 410 caliber was developed specifically for practice shooting.
