Orekhovo-Zuevo (Moscow) is one of the cities in the east of the Moscow region. It is located at a distance of 97 km east of Moscow. The number of inhabitants of the city is 118,822 people. Forms an agglomeration. The total population of Orekhovo-Zuyevo is 276,000 people (including migrants).

History of the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo (Moscow)

The agglomeration was formed in 1917 when the settlements of Orekhovo and Zuyevo were merged. In 1929, the working settlement of Dubrovka was added to the town. The textile industry has been developed in Orekhovo since ancient times. At the end of the century before last, 17 plants and factories with a total number of workers of over 30,000 people were already operating there. This city is also mentioned as the birthplace of national football.

Since 1862, trains from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod began to run through it.

Geography

Orekhovo-Zuevo is located in the east of the Moscow region, in the temperate continental climate zone. When moving from Moscow to the east, an increase in continentality is observed, which is expressed in an increasefrosty winters and a slight decrease in precipitation. The role of anticyclones is increasing. Typical for the city are long transitional seasons, rather short summers and moderately frosty winters, which are becoming shorter due to climate warming.

The ecology of the city is greatly influenced by the smoldering peat bogs in the vicinity, which is especially noticeable in the autumn months. This causes deterioration in air quality. The hotter and drier the summer and autumn, the higher the risk of fire in peat beds. In 2010, the situation resembled an ecological catastrophe. At the same time, there are few polluting enterprises in the city.

Population

The population of Orekhovo-Zuevo in 2018 was 118,822 people. Since 1923, there has been a steady increase in population, which, apparently, was before that. The maximum values of the number of inhabitants were noted in the early 90s and were in the region of 137 thousand people. Then the downward trend prevailed, however, most of it fell just in the 90s. It was in the 90s that the population of Orekhovo-Zuyevo went down. Then the situation was more stable.

Recently, Orekhovo-Zuyevo has a very high proportion of visitors from Central Asian countries. Because of this, the total population of Orekhovo-Zuyevo is much higher.

In terms of vacancies, the situation in Moscow is much better, so many get a job there. Especially it concernsgenerations 20-50 years old, that is, this is the main part of the working population.

The death rate in Orekhovo-Zuyevo is higher than the birth rate: for every 30 newborns, there are 45 deaths. Thus, the social protection of the population in Orekhovo-Zuyevo is not effective enough.

Industry

Orekhovo-Zuevo is a city of the old industrial way. Now the buildings of the former Soviet factories house offices and trade facilities. The main businesses closed were:

• Orekhovsky Cotton Mill.
• Silk weaving factory.

However, now the factories and enterprises of Orekhovo-Zuevo are still quite numerous. There are about a dozen of them + 1 CHP.

Transportation

It belongs to the category of secondary, with a low level of convenience and removed from the city center. The houses are mostly old. In relatively new areas - Vokzal, Central Boulevard and Parkovaya - housing prices are quite significant. The apartments are large in size. For a three-room apartment it will be necessary to pay 4 million rubles. and more. The living area will be around 80 square meters.

Church neighborhood is located near the cathedral. Nearby are a park and a pond. The houses are relatively new. There are also new buildings. The price for a one-room apartment will be approximately 2 million rubles. Ideal for churchgoers.

The condition of the roads is generally satisfactory, but on the outskirts of the city it is worse than in the center. There are practically no traffic jams in Orekhovo-Zuevo.
