Interesting fact, Lake Lezhninsky is not an ordinary body of water, but a hydrological monument of nature. Presumably, the lake has such a type of origin as karst-suffusion. It was formed after the collapse of the arch of an underground cave-cavity of enormous size. There is also a version that it was formed as a result of the impact of a fallen meteorite.

Shoal water in Lake Lezhninsky in the Kirov region has a greenish and turquoise color and is quite transparent, which attracts diving enthusiasts. Breams, perches, pikes and roaches living in the lake attract fishermen all year round. Crayfish are also found in the reservoir, in connection with this, here you can meet those who hunt specifically for them. The peculiarity of the reservoir is that there are several small islands on it. Its area is approximately 2 hectares, it reaches 12 m in depth, however, according to some sources, there are depths up to 25 m. Shaitan has a regular ellipse shape and dimensions - 180 m wide and 240 long. It should be noted that this reservoir is part of a nature reserve called the Bushkovsky Forest.

This lake has a karst origin, it has a siphon circulation. In the reservoir there are karst cavities and cracks that are filled with water. Through wells having a vertical shape, cavities (caverns) and large cracks communicate with each other. In the lake, at a depth, there are pressure artesian waters.

The lake got its name "Shaitan" because of the gushing of water in some places. This is due to artesian waters, which periodically push out settling silt, as well as peat, into vertical underwater wells. Emissions of water occur after heavy rains and in the spring, after the snow melts.

Also on this reservoir there are so-called floating islands. In fact, the islands located on the lake are in one place. They are covered with a layer of water during floods or in the spring when the snow melts and the water level rises.
