How to fly a quadcopter: remote control options, recharging and first flight

Syma X5C quadrocopter is one of the most modern, convenient and easy-to-use quadrocopters, so it is convenient to show the basics of controlling all such mechanisms using its example. The device has a camera that shoots at a resolution of 640x480 pixels; it picks up a signal from the remote control at a distance of up to 150 m. A six-axis gyroscope provides a stable flight for the quadrocopter. This model is also equipped with a LED light that shimmers in the dark. Precautions

Before you learn how to fly a quadcopter, you need to familiarize yourself with the basic safety precautions:

1. The device can be used outdoors or in a spacious room.
2. Don't fly the quadcopter near power lines or other obstacles.
3. The distance from the operating mechanism to people or animals should not be less than 3 m. It is forbidden to start the mechanism in close proximity with a large group of people.
4. Before starting the machine, you mustmake sure that both of its batteries (remote and onboard) are 100% charged.
5. The device contains lithium-ion batteries - the most explosive of all. Therefore, it is important:
• observe their polarity;
• do not disassemble, do not deform them;
• do not heat;
• don't short them;
• do not keep in the same container with metal elements;
• do not operate the device when they are very hot.

How to learn to fly a quadcopter? First you need to familiarize yourself in detail with your "steering wheel" - the remote control:

1. A key is visible between the joysticks, turning the quadcopter on and off.
2. The top left key switches the device from novice to advanced mode and vice versa.
3. Control "gas" - the left joystick "up and down".
4. Rotate the device around itself (ruder) - left joystick "left-right".
5. Directly below the left joystick is a trim that switches it to "Smooth Turn".
6. Slightly to the right of it is a small photo mode trimmer (moving the joystick up) and video (on - down, off - up).
7. The top right key is the 360-degree flip of the quadcopter.
8. Right joystick controls direction: up/down, left/right.
9. Directly below it is the pitch trim button.
10. To the left ofright stick is a trim, making it the device's roll control.

How to fly the Syma quadcopter: training

Before practical use, you need to test all the features of your device described in the previous paragraph in a safe place. The training is considered successfully completed if you have brought the following actions to automaticity:

• safe takeoff and landing of the gadget using the "gas" joystick;
• roll control for slopes in different directions;
• ruder control for turning left and right;
• quadcopter pitch forward and backward.

Charging the device

Before you can control the quadcopter, you need to fully charge it. To do this, remove the on-board battery of the device, using the charger included in the kit, connect the battery to a power source. A flashing red LED indicates the start of the charging process. Its extinction indicates a full charge of the battery - it will take up to 1.5 hours. Remember to return the battery to the device.

Do not connect the wires of the onboard battery to the quadcopter until you turn on the remote control. For the latter to function, it must be powered by four AA batteries.

First flight

So, you've come to the first training session - how to control the Syma X5C quadcopter:

1. Turn on the remote, pay attention tobattery indicator - if less than two bars are marked, then you need to recharge the on-board battery.
2. Now power up the quadcopter by connecting the battery cable to the dedicated connector on the device.
3. Place the device on a flat, stable surface and stand at least 3 meters away from the device.
4. It is necessary to establish a connection between the device and the remote control - for this you need to slowly move the "gas" joystick up and then down.
5. One hundred percent readiness of the mechanism for flight will be indicated by steadily burning LEDs on its surface.
6. Quadcopter can fly for 8-10 minutes. The duration of flights depends on their speed, the intensity of somersaults in the air.

7. If the device deviates from the specified direction during the flight:

   • quadcopter drifts to the right - trim it with the button on the ruder to the left and vice versa;
   • goes forward - trim it back with the pitch button, in case of a nasty problem - vice versa;
   • spins strongly to the left - the included pitch trimmer and the joystick to the right will be an assistant, if the opposite phenomenon is observed - nasty actions.
8. To turn off the device, disconnect the on-board battery wiring, turn off the remote control and then remove the on-board battery from the quadcopter.
