Kstovo is one of the cities of the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia. This city is located on the right (i.e., western) bank of the Volga River. Nizhny Novgorod is 15 km away. The M7 Volga highway and a railway line pass through the city. The city is crossed by a tributary of the Volga - the Kudma River. The population of Kstovo is 67,723.

History of the city

Earlier, on the site of the current city there was a village called Kstovskaya. It has been known since the 14th century. Tatar and Mordovian tribes were distributed here. The frequent occupation of the population was net weaving, barge work and otkhodnichestvo. In Soviet times, oil refining actively developed in the village and the Kstovo oil refinery was built, as well as a thermal power plant and other industrial facilities.

In 1957, the village receives the status of a city. The city now includes the village of Vishenka, which is the site of the cultivation of the Cherry onion variety.

Kstov climate

In the citytemperate continental type of climate. Winters are rather cold and long, while summers are short and cool. The average temperature in January is -9 °С, and in July +19.4 °С. The annual amount of precipitation is 650 mm.

Economy of Kstov

The entire economy of this regional center is focused on industrial production. A large number of various factories are located here, which are an important source of employment for the population of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region. Among them are enterprises of the petrochemical complex, bitumen production, production of reinforced concrete products, as well as a bakery, a furniture factory, a dairy and a sausage production shop.

Attractions

There are practically no important sights in the city. The most significant object of this kind is the monument to test pilot Chkalov V. P. He was a hero of the Soviet Union. This object is located on Sorokaletiya Oktyabrya Street, near house No. 6. This monument appeared back in 1956.

The monument is a sculpture mounted on a pedestal.

Near the city is the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, which is considered an architectural monument of the federal level.

Population of Kstovo

CurrentlyThe population of the city of Kstovo is 67,723 people. It steadily increased from 1940 until 2001. Gradually, the speed of this process slowed down. Since 2001, the number of inhabitants has hardly changed, but at the maximum it was 69,400 people (2000), which is slightly more than at present.

At the same time, since 2007, there has been a slight increase in the population of Kstovo - from 65,400 people. in 2007 to 67,723 in 2017.

Currently, the city is in 239th place in terms of the number of inhabitants among the cities of the Russian Federation.

The inhabitants of Kstovo are, first of all, representatives of such nationalities as Russians, Tatars and Mordovians. Residents of the city are usually called Kstovchane, if female, then Kstovchanka, and if male, then Kstovchanin.

Thus, the population of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region, has hardly changed lately.

Vacancies of the employment center

As of mid-2018, the city has job offers in various fields. The salaries are different. Minimum, but relatively frequent - 11,630 rubles. In most cases, salaries vary from 13 to 20-25 thousand rubles, but for some vacancies the salary is even higher. The upper limit is 50,000 rubles, however, the lower price tag for this vacancy is 19,600 rubles, and this is the salary most likely to be paid. On other similar vacancies, a large amount is also indicated as an upper limit, and a lower one is not very high.

Thus, the level of salaries in the city is average by Russian standards. But a large number of simple jobs (cook, waiter, laborer, cleaner, etc.) is a plus, because it allows almost anyone to find a job.

All this speaks to the acceptable situation in the local labor market and explains why the population has been slowly increasing in recent years. It is also likely that migrants influence the population. This factor is quite significant for the regions of Central Russia, especially for the Moscow region. And Kstovo is not very far from Moscow.
