One of the most picturesque places is Big Simaginskoye Lake. On hot days, dozens of people tend to get on the steep sandy shore, on which there are beautiful pine trees. But you can relax here, not only admiring nature. Many fishermen choose these places for their leisure time.
Description of the lake
Big Simaginskoye Lake is located in the Leningrad Region, in the Vyborgsky District. It is popularly known as the Beauty. This is understandable, because this reservoir is distinguished by golden beaches, and pines, spruces and other trees stretch into the sky along the picturesque shores. Also, the green expanse of water in some places is bordered by unusually beautiful cliffs.
The lake has spread for 2.5 km, and its width is slightly more than a kilometer. The total area of Beauty is 2.7 km2. The deepest place of the reservoir is 19 m. The eastern shores of the lake are very beautiful and high. Steep cliffs are densely overgrown with pines, and the forest reaches the very Zelenogorsk highway.
From the south side, heading r west, the coastthe lake starts to go down, become less steep. On its banks, in addition to pines, spruce trees appear, and birch trees stand closer to the water in some areas. Already from the western side, the coast becomes gentle and instead of the forest, sun-drenched meadows flaunt.
The beauty is replenished from the Yuli-Yoki river flowing into it. Also, Big Simaginskoye Lake has an outflowing Alya-Yoki River, which heads to the Gulf of Finland.
Because the lake has high banks, the water in it is mixed very badly. That is why in summer the upper water layers can warm up to 23 degrees, and already at a depth of 8 meters the temperature does not exceed 15 degrees.
Today summer cottages are being built around the lake in accessible places. There is also a former children's camp on the shore.
Lake vacation
In the summer, most vacationers prefer this particular lake. The fact is that there are many wide (up to 4 meters) sandy beaches, and the water itself makes you feel like you are in a resort. There is no garbage, bags or garbage on the mirror surface. Average visibility depth is 1-3 meters. Mushrooms can also be found in the forests.
It is worth considering that there are no equipped beaches here.
Big Simaginskoye Lake: reviews of vacationers
Many who came here on vacation note that the air is very clean and the soul truly rests from the hustle and bustle. Also, if necessary, there are good shops in the village of Ilyichevo. But at the same time, not everyone risks swimming here. Beauty has a bad reputation because there areunderwater cliffs, double bottom, ice springs that can make you cramp.
Fishing on the lake
Many fishermen who live nearby go for their catch to Lake Bolshoye Simaginskoe. Fishing here can bring pleasure, because pike, burbot, bream, silver bream, perch, rudd, and ruff are found in the reservoir. But it is best to go on such a "hunt" in the summer, because already at the end of spring the underwater inhabitants become active. You can use a boat for fishing, but shore fishing is also a good option. Large predators are very rare here, but nevertheless, no one is left empty-handed, because the bite is active.
Winter fishing is also practiced here, but the fish bite not so briskly and quickly, so the effectiveness in cold weather is reduced.
How to get there?
The issue of transportation may arise regardless of why you are going to the Big Simaginskoye Lake. How to get to your destination? Minibuses run from St. Petersburg to Ilyichev, but flights are not frequent. Therefore, many decide to first take a minibus to Zelenogorsk (1 hour on the way). From here you can take a taxi. It will be inexpensive, since the distance to Ilyichevo is 12 km. Ask to stop at the bus stop, there is a bus schedule back. After 15 minutes walk you will be on the lake.
Historical events
Big Simaginskoye Lake for some is a historical value, since in the summer of 1917 Lenin was hiding in its vicinity. He took refuge in the village of Yalkala, on the northwestern side of the reservoir. Even in the Soviet years, a memorial museum of V. I. Lenin was organized here, which in 1993 became a museum-reserve called "Yalkala".
On the shores on the northern side of the lake there is the village of Ilyichevo. In this place, the State Hydrological Institute set up its experimental base in the 1950s.
