The biography of this man is full of interesting moments. Let's start with his birth. So, David Kipiani was born in 1951, on November 18. The hometown of the great football player is Tbilisi (Georgia).
David was born in a family of two doctors. That is why the boy rarely managed to enjoy communication with his parents. The upbringing was mainly done by the beloved grandmother. Despite the unbearable activity of the boy, the parents dreamed that their son would grow up as a talented surgeon. Grandma thought otherwise. She saw a future writer in the child, so she was happy to teach him the basics of literature and art every day.
But no matter how close people try to lure the boy to theiraside, he chose sports. It is noteworthy that neither the grandmother nor the parents began to stop David's love for football.
First steps towards glory
To get closer to his dream, David decides to enter the football school number 35. It should be said that P. Chelidze became the first coach of the talented boy.
Success followed already in 1968, when David Kipiani became the winner of the "Cup of Hope", being in the team of the Georgian youth team. Immediately after this significant event, Dynamo Tbilisi was enrolled in the double.
At the same time as playing in the football team, David decides to enter the Tbilisi Polytechnic Institute at the Faculty of Chemistry. Realizing that he does not have much interest in science, Kipiani is transferred to the Faculty of Law, which he successfully graduates from.
David Kipiani is a high profile football player
From 1968 to 1970 he plays for Lokomotiv Tbilisi. A year later, David is invited to Dynamo, where he shows excellent results. Thanks to his love for football, Kipiani is taken to the USSR national team. Unfortunately, he failed to prove himself in the team. The reason was a serious leg injury, which he received at the training camp in Odessa.
After that, David Kipiani rarely appears in the national team, because he does not fit into the tactical schemes of coach Lobanovsky.
David played 246 matches in the Dynamo club, in which he scored 79 goals.
Retirement from football
In 1981unexpectedly, Kipiani breaks his leg, as a result of which he does not get into the application for the 1982 World Cup. After that, David plays a few more matches as part of his native team, and then declares publicly that he is leaving football.
Working as a coach
After leaving the sport, Kipiani works on the board of the Dynamo Georgia Society. David does not stay in this position for long - six months later he is appointed Dynamo coach instead of Nodar Akhalkatsky. At the time of taking the position, the team seems to be unassembled and practically “collapsed”. Only a year later, David manages to rally the Dynamo.
In 1986, the club's management decides to dismiss Kipiani from the post of head coach. The reason was a divorce from his first wife. Such an act was regarded by the leadership as a step unworthy of a man. It is also noteworthy that Dynamo, at the time of David's departure, takes 3rd place in the championship.
Further activities
David Kipiani, whose biography is interesting to many, starts working in the Prosecutor's Office of the Georgian SSR. David Kipiani, whose death shocked millions of people, died on September 17, 2001. The tragedy occurred near the village of Cherdakhi, located just 30 km from Tbilisi. According to eyewitnesses, David was driving at high speed, overtaking car after car. Suddenly, his car swerves sharply off the road and hurtles toward a tree by the side of the road. The car then flies off to another tree and begins to smoke. Drivers of other cars rush to help, who, after opening the doors, find an unconscious football player thrown into the back seat.
David Kipiani was buried at the Saburtalo cemetery. All expenses related to the funeral were covered by the leadership of the Georgian Football Federation.
