Reconstruction of the highway Enthusiasts: plans, main objects, results

The Highway of Enthusiasts is one of the main routes that connects the capital with settlements near Moscow, in particular Balashikha and Noginsk. Based on the old name (Vladimirsky Trakt), we see that this is the road to Vladimir, which further stretches to Siberia - the modern federal highway M-7 "Volga". In 2016, a large-scale reconstruction of the Entuziastov Highway was launched. Let's get acquainted with the work already carried out in more detail.

Reconstruction Goals

Two main tasks were planned: reducing the overall congestion of the road and creating comfortable conditions for the movement of public transport. The news about the imminent reconstruction of the Enthusiasts Highway in Balashikha was received with particular enthusiasm, because this is the most convenient road connecting the city near Moscow with the capital.

Achieve the goal designers and builderssolved in two main ways:

• Expansion of the motorway to four lanes each way.
• Creation of side driveways along the road.

Main objects of work

The main achievements of the Enthusiast Highway reconstruction are as follows:

• Circular traffic at the intersection of Svobodny prospect, Entuziastov highway and B. Kupavensky passage.
• Expansion of the main roadway (its total length is 8.1 km) to 8 lanes in both directions.
• Creation of side passages on the 4680 m section of the motorway.
• Installation of noise shields from Andronyevskaya Square to Stalevarov Street (10.2 km). In addition, such barrier structures also contribute to improving traffic safety.
• Construction of three underground pedestrian crossings and five elevated ones.
• Reconstruction of a number of installed traffic lights in connection with the new features of the highway.

During the reconstruction of the Enthusiastov Highway, more attention was paid to the arrangement of side passages leading to the territories adjacent to the road. They allow car owners to move around the area without leaving the main highway.

Many transformations in the reconstruction of the Enthusiasts Highway were also made for public transport. In particular, 18 drive-in pockets (areas placed outside the main highway so that the traffic that slows down here does not impede the general traffic) for minibuses, trolleybuses, buses. Such stops providepassenger safety - they can expect their route, being at a decent distance from a busy highway.

Results of work

Before the reconstruction of the Enthusiasts Highway is still far away - it will be completed in the third quarter of 2018. But we can already say the following:

• Increased overall vehicle speed on the highway.
• Comfortable side passages have appeared.
• Out of 18 active traffic lights, 13 remained (5 were eliminated due to the abolition of the need for a left turn).
• Comfortable conditions were created for the movement of high-speed trams. At the same time, within the traffic zone, it was not even necessary to equip a dedicated lane.

The Highway of Enthusiasts has always been a busy route: residents of cities near Moscow rush to work in the capital, in the summer summer residents join the general traffic. The ongoing reconstruction will somewhat improve its throughput and provide greater comfort of movement.
