The future Russian director was born in early October 1949 in Leningrad. From childhood, he was distinguished by purposefulness. Already at the age of 22, he got a job as an artist at the Leningrad Television, then he was still a student at the State University of the Faculty of History. Two years after his graduation, he came to work for the famous Lenfilm. There his career began. At first he worked as an artist-decorator. In parallel with work, I went to study at the Pedagogical Institute, I lacked art and graphic education.
The first films directed by Alexander Rogozhkin
For a long time he could not find himself, until one fine moment he realized that he was most interested in directing. I decided to enter VGIK, got into the workshop of Sergei Gerasimov. At the age of 33 he received a diploma and immediately began to work. The debut picture of Alexander Rogozhkin was the short film "Redhead-Redhead".
The director made his first feature film in 1985. It was a military drama "For the Sake of a Few Lines". The following year, he tried the comedy genre in Exceptions Without Rules. Two years later, he returned to the comedy - "Miss Millionaire", Nikolai Karachentsov and Tatyana Mikhalevkina were involved in the filming.
Triumph
In 1990, the drama "Karaul" was released, which Alexander Rogozhkin staged according to the script by Ivan Loshchilin. The picture reflects the relationship between the escorts who accompanied the prisoners by rail. The plot is based on a real story that happened in Leningrad in 1987. A special commission selected the picture for the Berlin Film Festival. And not in vain - "Karaul" received the "Golden Bear" and two more honorary awards. It was a real sensation. The creative biography of Alexander Rogozhkin began to gain momentum.
After the first recognition, inspiration opened up, a year later Rogozhkin directed Chekist, Third Planet, Life with an Idiot, Act.
Post-perestroika period
In 1995, the director took on a new role for himself - a screenwriter in the film "Peculiarities of the National Hunt". This comedy tells about the adventures of a young Finn who decides to take part in a real Russian entertainment - hunting. The coloring of the Russian character, shown in the picture, finds an unexpected response from the viewer. Ribbon becomes a laureateGrand Prix at Kinotavr, the director receives a prestigious award - Niku.
By the 2000s, Alexander Rogozhkin became interested in military topics - "Checkpoint", "Cuckoo", "Sapiens" (short film). During the same period, he filmed the popular series "Streets of Broken Lights" and "Deadly Force" - telling about the everyday life of Russian policemen.
Personal life of Alexander Rogozhkin
At the age of 49, in 2002, Alexander formalized a relationship with editor Yulia Rumyantseva. In 2011, a tragedy occurred in the director's family. A woman committed suicide by jumping from a height of the 14th floor of one of the St. Petersburg houses. Until now, nothing is clear about the reasons for such a desperate act of a young woman. In his interviews after the tragedy, the director said that he could not have imagined such a thing.
