The destruction of the Soviet empire could not take place without a lot of mistakes, crimes and other extremely unpleasant moments. Someone had to take the first step and take responsibility for everything that happened in the vast country. Such a person has been found. He became the first president of Russia.
The monument to Yeltsin was opened for viewing on February 1, 2011. On this day, he would have turned eighty, and work on the construction of a monument in Yekaterinburg, a city in which Boris Nikolayevich is well remembered, was timed to coincide with this anniversary. Here he led the regional party organization for a long time, and the style of his work was quite authoritarian. The opening was attended by President Medvedev and his wife, they liked the monument very much.
The ceremony took place on Yeltsin's birthday, when people remembered all the good and bad associated with the period of his leadership of the country.
There were many dissatisfied with the activities of the first President. One could even say that there were many, and by the end of his reign, their number was characterized as the vast majority.
Economic stagnation caused bysevering economic ties, losing control, rampant theft with impunity, and an almost complete shutdown of production threatened famine in potentially the richest country in the world. Humanitarian aid was received from abroad, often collected on the principle of “what is not worthwhile for us”, and which was clearly mocking in nature, the parliament building was shot from the turret guns of tanks of the Russian Army, there was a war in Chechnya, which was led by mediocre commanders. The possibility of Russia breaking up into small principalities at war with each other became quite real, over which foreign governments would easily establish control.
Already in August, the monument to Yeltsin, the first President of the new Russia, was desecrated, it was flooded with blue beauty. In itself, any fact of vandalism is unfortunate, the dead have no shame, but the hooligans who committed this crime tried to justify it with their political views.
Sculptor Frangulyan, who had previously created Yeltsin's tombstone, used white marble as a material. By this, he expressed his attitude to the image of the President, who opened up new opportunities for Russia, rejecting the communist idea. Despite the numerous troubles that befell the people in troubled times, the general meaning of the transformations was true.
The monument to Yeltsin in Yekaterinburg is disliked not only by the political opponents of the first President of the Russian Federation, but also by its artistic merits. So, the face of some people seems expressionless, and the whole monument - weakly reflecting the essencethis, undoubtedly, an outstanding personality, capable of the most unusual manifestations of emotions.
Be that as it may, the main criteria for the success of the composition were its assessment of family members, the widow of Naina Iosifovna, friends and relatives. They know better what Yeltsin was like. The monument is dynamic, it seems to be moving, just like Boris Nikolayevich was, who made mistakes and exploits, who managed to voluntarily give up power.
