The AK 107 assault rifle, like its counterparts under the index 108 and 109, was designed by engineers Alexandrov and Paranin, who are employees of the Izhmash enterprise. This unit belongs to the 100th Kalashnikov series, the models differ only in the charges used. The main feature of the combat unit is the use of balanced automation.

Features

The use of special automation made it possible to significantly reduce the recoil and oscillation of the weapon during firing. This especially affected the shots in bursts, providing better aiming and accuracy of hitting the target.

Such solutions were introduced on prototypes of "AL", the development of which was carried out in the 60-70s of the last century. However, these copies did not go into mass production due to the presence of such shortcomings as: heavy pollution, short working life of a number of parts and spontaneous opening of the barrel cover during firing.

Modernization

Automation of the same type was used inguns AEK-971, which was developed at the Kovrov plant. The AK 107 assault rifle differs from this model in that a number of modernizing elements are included in the design. Among them: an additional gas piston, a rod with a counterweight, a synchronizing device (located between the bolt part and the balancer). In addition, a number of minor improvements have been made, such as a modified fixation of the receiver cover of the receiver.

The modernized AK 107 assault rifle has received minor improvements compared to analogues using gunned automatics. Externally, the guns are distinguished by the elongated dimensions of the gas piston and the casing, which aggregates with the handguard, which masks the balancer in itself.

Balanced Automation

The AK 107 assault rifle, thanks to the system under consideration, is able to absorb part of the impulses when the gun recoils. This factor contains a complex of several influences. Among them:

• Impulse after the shot, issued even when the shutter is closed.
• The bolt assembly then retracts and rests against the rear of the barrel box, which provokes another impulse.
• The final action is due to the supply of an oppositely directed impulse when the shutter is moved to the extreme right position during the final recharge cycle.

The recoil of AK 107/108/109 assault rifles is reduced by using an effective muzzle compensator with a brake. The remaining pulse feeds have a more complex blanking configuration. For this purposean automatic balancer is used with an additional analog moving simultaneously with the shutter mechanism in the opposite direction. The weight of the balancing device and the bolt group is the same, as is the speed, which is provided by the synchronizer, which is responsible for the opposite direction of the nodes with respect to each other.

Comparative characteristics

AK 107 is an automaton that uses the pulses of the balancing and shutter assembly, which makes the total opposite flow equal to zero. Parts of the active group, upon reaching the extreme upper position, due to their own movement, transfer the shock direction to the fixed elements of the gun, after which the impulse is transmitted to the arrow and the body. Colliding with each other, they are mutually extinguished.

When firing bursts from the AK 107 assault rifle, the weapon is affected by recoil caused solely by the salvo. At the same time, a significant decrease in DTC is observed, which increases the accuracy of shots by an order of magnitude, regardless of the rate of fire. The movement of the moveable elements of automation is reduced compared to the classic variations of the Kalashnikov. This decision made it possible to increase the rate of fire to 900 volleys per minute.

AK 107 assault rifle description

The design of the gun consists of a pair of return type springs. One of them is located between the bolt frame and the rear of the receiver. The second element is located between the balancer and the shutter, which compresses the knot during opening.

The trigger mechanism is identical to the basic analogs used on AK. In addition, there is a function of firing bursts of three rounds. The transfer fuse has not changed. It is only adjusted for the possibility of firing in short bursts. The black plastic fittings and the side folding stock, as well as the adjustable sights, are identical to the AKM-74. Among the additional functionality: a night or collimator sight, a bayonet-knife, an underbarrel grenade launcher.

Kalashnikov assault rifle AK 107 is equipped with a reliable locking sight and receiver cover. In the new modification, a change in the geometry of this node is observed. The sector sight is mounted on the front edge of the barrel, while it is connected to the groove of the lining, providing additional fixation of the cover.

Update

Already in 2011, the Izhmash enterprise presented a new sample to the public - the AK 107 assault rifle, whichequipped with a Picatinny rail. It makes it possible to mount various types of sights much faster and more conveniently. At the same time, the standard U-shaped rear sight was replaced by a model with adjustable diopter. The designers themselves placed the assembly on the rear surface of the barrel box cover. In addition, a four-row modification box magazine was developed with a capacity of 60 charges.

Modifications

The AK 107 assault rifle, the characteristics of which are discussed above, as well as its counterparts numbered 108 and 109, differ only in the type of cartridge used. Special automation works by means of a gas engine stroke with an increased movement of the element and a balancer, which is equipped with an individual gas piston moving in the opposite direction from the main element. The balancer is synchronized with the shutter frame by means of a gear, which is in vertical aggregation with it. rebound movingparts of the gun provides a special part. The trunk canal is closed according to the principle of identical constipation in the AK-74 modification.

Result

In the "hundredth" series of AK, the developers from Izhevsk embodied in new models (AK 107/108/109) all the best from old models and innovative solutions. The modernization made it possible to increase accuracy when shooting, hit accuracy, and also reduce the impact of recoil. The result was an automatic weapon, which began to be in demand not only in the domestic army, but also among official foreign partners.
