Aisha Hinds (born November 13, 1975) is an American television, stage and film actress. She had minor roles in a number of television series: The Shield, True Blood, Detroit 1-8-7 and Under the Dome. In 2016, she played Fanny Lou Hammer in the biopic drama film All the Way to the End and was introduced as Harriet Tubman in the WGN America Underground era theater.
The future actress was born in Brooklyn, New York. When a high school dance instructor noticed that the red shoes couldn't bring out the girl's full potential, he referred her to the High School for the Performing Arts in New York, where her formal acting training began.
2002-2011
She started her television career in 2003 on NYPD Blue. In 2004, she had a recurring role on The Shield (Annie Price) and later on The Jordan Investigation, Boston Lawyers, Always in Philadelphiasunny", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "Stargate: SG-1", "Detective Rush" and "Desperate Housewives". Hinds had regular roles in two short series from ABC: "Invasion" from 2005 to 2006 and Detroit 1-8-7 (2010-2011).
She also had recurring roles on A Doll's House, Sister Hawthorne and True Blood. The actress also starred in feature films. Some of Aisha Hinds' films are Who Are You, Mr. Brooks?, Madea in Jail, Out of Control, and Star Trek: Into Darkness. In 2011, she played the lead role in the theater production of The Best of Enemies at the George Street Theatre.
2011-2016
In 2013, Aisha Hinds appeared on The CW's The Cult as the evil Rosalind Sakelik. Immediately after The Cult was canceled, Hinds was included in the regular CBS television series Under the Dome, based on the Stephen King book of the same name. After the first season, she was hired full-time.
In 2014, she had supporting roles in If I Stay and Beyond the Light. Also that year, she had a recurring role as Chief Investigator Ava Wallace on NCIS: LA. In 2015, Hinds was included in the cast of the series Breed.
2016-present
In 2016 Aisha Hindsreceived positive reviews for her role as civil rights activist Fanny Lou Hammer in the HBO biopic All the Way to the End. She later starred in the FOX drama series Gunshot.
