The division of the city into districts is very conditional. Districts of Chelyabinsk are connected by common streets, squares, roads and problems.
Administrative-territorial division of Chelyabinsk
The city is divided into 7 districts: Leninsky, Kalininsky, Kurchatovsky, Metallurgical, Traktorozavodskoy, Sovetsky, Central.
In terms of area, the largest is the Metallurgical District, it occupies 106 km2, followed by Sovetsky (78 km2) and Leninsky (75 km2), Traktorozavodskaya (70 km2) and Kurchatovskiy (60 km2). The smallest territories belong to Kalininsky (48 km2) and Central (44 km2) districts.
The largest in terms of population are Kalininsky district and Kurchatovsky, 224,390 and 223,560 people, respectively.
Each district of Chelyabinsk has its own history and destiny. Residents of the districts are trying to preserve the uniqueness of each of them, the color and historical face.
History of Chelyabinsk districts
Leninsky, Sovetsky and Traktorozavodsky districts are the oldest in the city. They were formed in the mid-30s of the twentieth century: Leninsky - 1935, Soviet andTraktorozavodskaya -1937. Metallurgical was founded after the Great Patriotic War, more precisely in 1946, most of its territory consists of buildings of the war and post-war period. Kalininsky and Central regions were separated in the 60-70s, and the youngest region is Kurchatovsky (1985).
Kalinin district of Chelyabinsk
The main part of the area of the municipality is located in the city center. Kalininsky borders on the Central District. On its territory there are Traktor Ice Palace, the City Central Shopping Center, Puppet Theatre, State Circus, Chelyabinsk State University, Thermal Engineering Institute, Automobile School, Pedagogical College.
Main streets: Kirov, Chicherin, Molodogvardeytsev, Brothers Kashirin, Universitetskaya Embankment.
The eastern part of the microdistrict is an industrial zone, the northwestern part is a housing stock and a forested part with birch groves.
Kurchatovsky
Kurchatovsky urban area runs from the city center to the north-west and borders on Kalininsky. They are separated by Pobedy Avenue.
Here are entertainment and shopping facilities: "Theorem", "Focus", "Fortune", "Fiesta", "Victory", "Galaxy of Entertainment", "Priisk". There are a huge number of residential complexes in the area.
Main streets: Molodogvardeytsev, Kuibyshev, Beivelya, Komsomolsky prospect.
This is the most modern, prestigious and expensive area of the city. It is environmentally friendly, since there is noindustrial enterprises, but there are many park areas.
Leninsky district
It borders on Sovetsky and Traktorozavodsky districts of Chelyabinsk. It is cut off from the Central highway "Meridian" and the railway. Here is a very ancient lake Smolino with s alt water, which was once a medical resort. Now the water is heavily desalinated and has lost its medicinal properties.
Main streets: Dzerzhinsky, Gagarin, Novorossiyskaya, Kopeyskoye highway, Meridian highway.
The area is industrial, 16 factories worked on its territory. Mostly former workers of these factories, their children and grandchildren live here. This part of the city is considered the most criminal.
Central
Occupies the western and central parts of the city, it can safely be called the business and cultural heart of Chelyabinsk. This is the most beautiful area, on its territory all the main sights of the city are located: the Gagarin Park - the largest in the city, the Scarlet Field Square, the beaches on Shershni Lake, the Kirov pedestrian street, the Opera and Ballet Theater, the Ice Palace, the Central Market, Sports Palace.
Main streets: Kirov, Trud, Engels, Kommuny, Khudyakov, Lenin and Sverdlovsky avenues.
The central district is one of the oldest in the city; the Chelyabinsk fortress was once founded in its place. Here you can walk along the old street of the city, where buildings bearing historical heritage are located. This is the business, cultural, administrative and historical center of the city.
Metallurgical
In the north of Chelyabinsk, the Metallurgical District is located, on its territory there are the Chelyabinsk Balandino Airport, the Northern Gate bus station, the Impuls Sports Palace, the Mechel Ice Palace, a recreation park and a large green square.
Main streets: Bohdan Khmelnitsky, Stalevarov, Cherkasskaya, Degtareva, Highway Metallurgists.
On the territory of the municipality there are settlements: Pershino, Airport 1st and 2nd, Kashtak.
The area is industrial, large areas of its territory are occupied by factories and enterprises.
The infrastructure is well developed here, there are hospitals, shopping centers, entertainment and he alth centers, as well as many recreation parks and squares with birch groves.
Soviet
Most of the area lies in the city center. Here is the Revolution Square, the Drama Theatre, the railway station, Pushkin Park, the Ural entertainment complex.
Main streets: Blucher, Vorovsky, Zwilling, Dovator, Svoboda, Lenin and Sverdlovsky avenues.
This is a typical administrative region. There are offices of many enterprises and organizations, cultural institutions, higher educational institutions.
Traktorozavodskoy district
Located in the eastern part of the city, bordering on the Leninsky and Central districts. The main attraction of the municipality is Victory Park, where tanks and combat vehicles of the Great Patriotic War, produced at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, are on display.factory. The district also received its name from this large machine-building plant.
Main streets: Komarov, Gorky, Heroes of Tankograd, Lenina avenue.
Here are located: entertainment complexes "Start", "Gorki", theater and grand hotel "Vidgof", technical college, palaces of culture.
