Jerome's parents were German Jews who emigrated to the US. It was in America that the future film producer was born. This event took place on September 21, 1945 in the city of Detroit (Michigan). Jerry Bruckheimer's acquaintance with Donald Simpson, who previously ran the famous Paramount film company, took place in 1983. They decide to create a common project and organize Simpson-Bruckheimer Productions. The first work of the new production company was the film Flashdance, which was released in 1983. Despite the fact that the film was made on a small budget, the box office for the film was a staggering $95 million.
