Kim Manners: childhood and family

The future director and executive producer was born on January 13, 1951 in a family of people associated with cinema. His father, Sam Manners, was an actor and … also an executive producer who worked on many famous series in the US. It was he who directed Naked City and Route 66 in the 60s, Section 5-O in the 70s and Breaking Out in the 80s. Sam Manners continued to work until the late 90s and outlived his son by three years.

There were three children in the Manners family, and they all decided to connect their fates with cinema. Kim had this desire at the age of three. It was then that the boy first starred in a commercial dedicated to one ofChevrolet car models. At first, Kim planned to become an actor, and this dream of his came true.

Acting debut and first directorial work

In 1970, Kim Manners played his first film role. It was the "Halls of Wrath" tape that he worked on with Jeff Bridges. Kim did not have more film roles: he was attracted by the work of an assistant director. In this position, he worked on the films "Valdez Goes" and "Locust". After that there were Charlie's Angels and the director's chair.

Kim Manners also acted as a director in such projects as 21 Jump Street, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Mission Impossible, Baywatch. Individual episodes in these series are the work of Manners.

They were, no doubt, The X-Files, which aired on FOX from 1993 to 2002. The series is about two agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, their work and encounters with the supernatural. Manners was invited to the project by screenwriters James Wong and Glen Morgan, who worked with him on 21 Jump Street. The director joined The X-Files in 1994 during the filming of the second season, and then every year he released several episodes. In total, Manners directed 50 episodes, and this was a kind of record for the project and for himself. As a result, the final episode of The X-Files was also entrusted to film by Kim Manners.

After there was work on "Supernatural". This is the story of the Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean, boldlyfighting evil. Since filming began in 2005, Kim Manners has been working on the project and bringing a special spirit of creative spontaneity to it.

Diagnosis and cause of death

During the filming of the first episode of season 4 of Supernatural, Manners learned that he had lung cancer. However, he continued to work on the project for as long as he could, but in 2009 Kim Manners passed away. He died in Los Angeles on January 25th.

It is noteworthy that the main character of the Breaking Bad project, according to the plot, also had lung cancer.
