Heroization of Nazism… Where to start? Perhaps, from the words of L. N. Tolstoy, who argued that our life is crazy, completely crazy and crazy. And these are not just beautiful words, a figurative comparison or even an exaggeration, but the simplest statement of what is … Well, many years have passed since the time of the great Russian writer, but, unfortunately, nothing has changed, and a vivid example of this is how since such a phenomenon as the glorification of Nazism is a modern form of insanity.

Nazism

So, the glorification of Nazism - what is it and, as they say, what is it eaten with? To begin with, we should dwell in detail on the very term "Nazism". According to an excerpt from the Big Law Dictionary edited by A. Ya. Sukharev, the very word "was born" from the name of the National Socialist Party of Germany, but subsequently "expanded", went beyond a simple, rarely used lexical unit and went down in history asthe title of "the ideology and practice of the Hitler regime in Germany" from 1933 to 1945. Figuratively speaking, Nazism is a rather sharp cocktail, its constituent elements - extreme nationalism, totalitarianism, racism, fascism, anti-Semitism and socialism - in their totality are extremely explosive. However, in the first half of the last century, the “aroma” of this drink, despite the sharpness and the anxiety and danger emanating from it, spread quite quickly, far and was to the taste of many. Why? There are many reasons for that. One of them is the inability to resist the temptation of one's own exclusivity, in this case, the national one. It is characteristic, to a greater or lesser extent, of all peoples, and sooner or later all nations pass through it, but again with different goals and consequences. Nazi Germany put the "Aryan race" at the forefront and declared its main goal to build one racially pure state on a fairly vast territory.

Practical implementation

The era of praise and ex altation of the "Aryan race" is often called the time of "admiration and terror." An amazing and paradoxical combination, isn't it? But it took place. After all, indeed, a whole people swiftly, with unprecedented enthusiasm and disturbing euphoria, rose, united and rushed first to clear the German lands from the foreigners “littering” it, and then to expand the living space by expelling and destroying other peoples for the increasing German-speaking population. Rise, delight and ecstasymarched in step with terror and genocide. The end justified any means. But the truth sooner or later banishes any truths and untruths: ex altation leads to only one thing - a fall. And Germany fell, and the world, at the cost of huge sacrifices, learned another lesson - always and everywhere to say “No!” to fascism and Nazism.

Nuremberg

Human society has long learned to prosecute and pass judgment on individual villains or bandit formations. But 1945-1946. is the time when the whole world, for the first time in the history of mankind, united and condemned the countless crimes of Nazi Germany. The International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg was called not to "execute" the Nazis on the spot, but to judge in a civilized manner. Any quick reprisal against a defeated enemy does not lead to the realization of the evil committed on both sides. She only quenches the thirst for revenge. Therefore, during the Nuremberg trials, all documentary evidence of the crimes committed was collected, possible witnesses were interviewed, and procedural guarantees gave those sitting in the dock the right to a lawyer and give explanations. The result of such a unique and large-scale event - a real Court of Nations - was a real, deep understanding of the tragedy. The main culprits were punished, and the peoples of the world unanimously declared their unconditional rejection of Nazism and condemnation of any violence against man and the state. The public demonstration of Nazi paraphernalia and symbols, the spread of organizations and movements professing National Socialist slogans - all thisprohibited by law in Europe and Latin America. But…

Rising controversy

But apparently, humanity's memory is too short, better to say, not short, but unreliable, ready to succumb to persuasion and change itself under the influence of other ideas. So, the Nuremberg trials are over, outwardly, friendly relations between the allied countries are preserved: the USSR, the USA and Great Britain. But that was only outwardly. In practice, something completely different was revealed: there can be only one winner, and the contradictions within the anti-Hitler coalition grew. The USSR rightfully claimed primacy, since it was indeed both the main winner of fascism and the main victim of it, and hence more "privileges" and powers in resolving issues about the post-war "inscription of the new world." Stalin sought the territorial expansion of the USSR and had claims to increase communist influence in the countries of Eastern Europe. Well, that makes sense and makes sense, but…

Fulton speech

But the leaders of Great Britain and the United States treated these trends, to put it mildly, with great discontent. Churchill, like a great politician, correctly assessed the situation and made a competent decision. Great Britain, considered the main European power before the outbreak of the war, was no longer such. Western Europe was ruined. Eastern Europe was under communist influence. Therefore, the main stake was placed on the United States. They suffered the least from the war, werethe sole owner of atomic weapons and, most importantly, were part of the "Anglo-Saxon" world. Churchill's Fulton speech outlined the contours of a new world order: from now on, the United States is the pinnacle of world power, since only American democracy and the "fraternal association of English-speaking peoples" can resist war and tyranny, the face of which is the USSR. The iron curtain has been lowered.

Racial theory

In fact, Mr. Churchill put the "Anglo-Saxon race" above all. It turns out that the unleashing of the Second World War was based on the theory of racial superiority of the "Aryans", and in the so-called Cold War - a certain "racial mission" of the Anglo-Saxon peoples. And if so, then “Nazism” lived, lives and will live, and the Nuremberg trials, the condemnation of Nazism, fascism, all kinds of intolerance and the prohibition of propaganda of these ideas at the legislative level, are just a farce. In other words, the glorification of Nazism already took its first tentative steps, since it is impossible to “stigmatize” what you do yourself…

The glorification of Nazism is…

After the end of the war, during the first ten years, a new trend arises - neo-Nazism, in a literal reading - a new Nazism. But, as they say, everything new is the well-forgotten old, and the new doctrine consists of the same elements of chauvinism, fascism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia and anti-Semitism. By leaps and bounds, from the 60s to today, all over the world, and this is not an exaggeration, neo-Nazi political parties and social movements are growing and multiplying, who either profess National Socialist views, or ideas close to them, or declare themselves direct followers of the National Socialist Workers' Party of Germany. In addition to ideas, they actively use the symbols, appeals and slogans of the Third Reich.

Under these conditions, other forces are also activated, seeking not only to “overestimate” the results of World War II, but also to completely distort history. “Strange” books are being written, “racial pseudo-theories” are being popularized, a mass of feature films and television programs appear that interpret history in their own way: the leaders of the Third Reich become real heroes, the Holocaust is denied, and the Nuremberg Trials acquire the features of a “trumped-up case”. This begs the question: do the laws work? Yes and no. On the one hand, in any legislation there are "loopholes", allowing to circumvent this or that law. And on the other hand, such a massive “glorifying of Nazism” speaks not only of the imperfection of legislation and the social structure, but also of another, more dangerous reason - someone really, really needs this. For what? First of all, as an effective manipulation tool. Seeds of national superiority, especially if they are regularly watered, always give a good harvest, which again can be used immediately, or can be canned until "better" times. And since we are not talking about a simple layman, the fight against the glorification of Nazism at the level of laws is definitely necessary, but it cannot give any tangible results.

Glorifying Nazism: UN

But, in spite of everything, it is necessary to continue “shouting” about this trouble. Every year we hear the same words from the media: “glorification of Nazism”, “resolution”, “UN”. Yes, indeed, the UN General Assembly is, if not yet perfect, but the only platform where a constructive discussion of problems is possible, because in any case, unification is the solution to all issues. On November 21, 2014, the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly once again adopted a resolution to take effective measures in the fight against the glorification of Nazism.

This document submitted by Russia says that the glorification of Nazism is, first of all, the spread of extremist political parties and associations in many countries of the world, including neo-nationalist organizations and groups of the so-called "skinheads". The rehabilitation of the Nazi movement, the glorification of fascist accomplices, former members of the German Waffen SS organization, the construction of monuments and memorials to them also belong to this trend. All of the above causes extreme anxiety and concern and requires tougher opposition to the revival of the Nazi ideology in accordance with international acts in the field of human rights protection.

115 states voted in favor, three voted against: the USA, Canada and Ukraine, which is not surprising and quite predictable…
