History of the museum

Museum of Nature and Ecology in Minsk is a rather young museum. In 1983In 1998, the Department of Nature of the State Museum of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic was created. It was a small exposition dedicated to the nature of Belarus. Gradually, the collection of the museum, exhibits became more and more. Therefore, in 1992, it was decided to reform the department of nature into an independent State Museum of Nature and Ecology of the Republic of Belarus. Recently, namely since 2014, the museum has been a branch of the National Historical Museum, which in no way detracts from its significance.

The permanent exhibition is located in several (five) halls of the main museum building. In addition, at other addresses there are buildings intended for temporary exhibitions. The collection of the Museum of Nature and Ecology in Minsk consists of stuffed animals and birds inhabiting the forests and fields of the country, the plant world is also represented - the natural habitats of animals are recreated in the windows, that is, the exhibits do not just stand in the middle of the hall, the museum workers tried to create vivid pictures from the natural life of the region: bears rest on the edge of the forest, and a fox hunts for ducks by the lake. It is useful to visit such a museum with children, because this is how they join the world of their native flora and fauna, and visually get to know it.
