Altai Territory amazes tourists with its beauty - unforgettable landscapes, green meadows, clear waters. The sandy river is one of the main attractions of the area. She got her name for a reason. River waters are washed by huge stones, so very often you can find sandbanks here.

Location

The sandy river originates twenty kilometers from the Republic of Altai - not far from the village of Besh-Ozek. It is a right tributary of the Ob. The river flows near the Seminsky Pass at an altitude of 1700 meters. After the village of Kuyagan, the reservoir falls into a gorge with a large number of rapids. The sandy beaches of the river can be observed only after it leaves the mountains. At 15 kilometers from the confluence of the Biya and Katun, the Peschanaya River flows into the Ob. On its way, it crosses various regions of Altai. Peschanaya flows through the territories of Soloneshensky, Ondugaysky, Smolensky and Shebalinsky districts.

The Sandy River (Altai) has the following boundaries:

• in the east - Cherginsky Range;
• in the south - Seminsky and Tenektinsky ridges;
• in the west - the Anai Range.

Description

Sand riverwas very popular among tourists in the middle of the 20th century, then extreme lovers actively rafted along it. Sites with fast currents and rapids were not always successful for tourists. This route was considered very difficult, if not a turning point for the athletes. But this is what Sandy River is known for. The rafting tactics of the athletes were different: some were lucky, and some were not.

Today it is a popular place for rafting competitions. For more than 10 years, athletes from all over Russia and foreign countries have been coming here to compete for prizes and medals. Together with lovers of alloys, a large audience of spectators and fans comes. During the competition, the desert territory of Altai turns into a crowded complex. A favorite place for tourists is a canyon with a cascade of obstacles. The most famous rapids of the river are "Jaws", "Mane", "Pink Bom". The area of the Peschanaya basin is 5660 sq. m. The length of the river is 276 kilometers.

In addition to athletes, fishing enthusiasts come to the Altai Territory. The following types of fish are found here:

Plant and animal life

The banks of the river are covered with forests. On the flat terrain you can often find birch and aspen, in mountainous areas - larch and cedar forests. Now the settlements there are Solonovka, Ilyinka, Peschanoe, Krasny Gorodok, Sychevka, Linevskiy, Kuyagan, Tourak, Baragash, Aleksandrovskoye, Tochilnoye, Shargaita, Novotyryshkino and Smolenskoye.

A large number of medicinal herbs and plants grow near the river basin. On the edges you can find oregano, wild onions, bergenia, turnips, rhubarb. Berries grow in forest areas: currants, strawberries, hawthorn, raspberries, blackberries, mountain ash and oxalis. In spring, the banks of the river are covered with flower carpets and white bird cherry. Also, a large number of mushrooms grow near Peschanaya, gatherers always leave with full baskets of butter, boletus, raw and white mushrooms, volnushki, boletus.

The fauna of the Altai Territory near the river is very diverse. Wolves, hares, badgers, foxes live here. The closer to the mountains, the more moose, deer, goats and rams are found. There are not so many winged representatives here - the sandpiper, little bustard, skylark, waterfowl, steppe eagle.

However, to travel through this area you need a car with high ground clearance, as some areas are littered with large stones. This place is popular among Russian tourists, children's festivals and concerts are often held here.

Getting to the mouth of the river is even more difficult. Here the car will not help, since there is not a single road. You can admire the picturesque places of the Peschanaya estuary only by riding a horse. You can also go there by boat. This area has an amazing landscape with many floodplain lakes where waterfowl nest.

The area where the Sandy River flows is very diverse. The fast flow of water is replaced by a slow flow. The river washes huge rocks and heaps of stones, forms sandbanks and flows past sheer bome. It is very difficult to describe this beauty in words, it is better to see it with your own eyes.
