History
The Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was established at the beginning of the 20th century, or rather, the exhibition of 1919 in Moscow can be considered the first prerequisites.
In 1919, the first military exhibition dedicated to the Red Army was held in the Soviet Union. The exhibition was attended by V. Lenin, who later gave instructions that it was necessary to create a museum-exhibition dedicated to the life and development of the army, which the whole country should be proud of.
In 1921, the exhibition-museum was transformed into a museum, which was located on Vozdvizhenka, 6 until 1928. The most striking event of that period is considered to be an exhibition dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the existence of the Red Army, which was visited by more than 100 thousand people, who came both in groups and singly.
In 1924 the museum waswas given the name Central, since 1951 it became known as the Museum of the Soviet Army, then in 1965 the army became known as the Armed Forces, as a result of which the name that existed before the collapse of the USSR was again changed. Already in 1993, a new name was formed - the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
In 1965, a new building was built specially for him, where he is located to this day.
