Opening date

When did the Tekutievsky cemetery (Tyumen) start operating? History shows that it was opened by decision of the Tyumen City Duma on July 30, 1885 on the lands where the peasants of the village of Bukino lived.

The modern name of the cemetery is due to the fact that the five-story building of the flour-grinding steam mill of the merchant A. I. Tekutyev, which was built in 1893, was located nearby.

What area does the necropolis occupy?

Initially, the churchyard area was 10 hectares. But already in 1913, a piece of land leased from the peasant community of the village of Bukino for the needs of the necropolis turned out to be overcrowded. To negotiate with the peasants to increaseit took two years to spare the cemetery. As a result, the site began to be 18 hectares.

For several decades, new buildings have contributed to the reduction of the burial area. The Tekutievo cemetery has halved. A large part of the necropolis in the 80s of the last century was taken under its building by the House of Culture "Geologist". Now the Tyumen Technopark is located there.

The expanded Republic Street also changed the look of the cemetery. Despite the fact that it has historical significance, many graves remain in oblivion, and monuments have been badly damaged or completely disappeared.

Burials of the Great Patriotic War

During the Great Patriotic War, the Tekutievo cemetery in Tyumen became the last refuge for servicemen who died from their wounds in the city's hospitals. They were buried on the southern edge of the necropolis.

In 1955, they were reburied in a mass grave, on which a marble monument was erected by architect V. A. Beshkiltsev. In 1968, it was reconstructed by the sculptor V. M. Belov.

Changes in the Tekutievsky cemetery over the past decades

In 2004, Tekutievsky Boulevard was re-dug. Now he has acquired a pleasing appearance. But the pavement itself was laid for burial. A large number of ancient cemetery crosses were crushed by bulldozers. There were also graves outside the park fence, but only two of them remained after the reconstruction.

Mysterious moat near the cemetery

Tekutyevsky cemeteryTyumen) in the southern part contains a moat, the origin of which has not been established. There are different versions about it. According to one of them, about 700 German prisoners of war were en masse buried here. According to another version, the ditch is nothing more than branches from a mill that belonged to the industrialist Tekutyev.

Famous personalities buried at Tekutievsky cemetery

Tekutyevsky cemetery has become the burial place of many famous personalities.

Nikolai Dmitrievich Masharov, who was the founder of a shipbuilding plant in Tyumen (now it is a machine-tool plant). The industrialist started with a small workshop built in a dugout. Subsequently, it grew into a huge enterprise, called the Partnership of Masharov and Co. The plant produced dishes, accessories for the oven and the household, and also accepted large orders from other plants and factories. The production of products for the shipping company was also launched.

The case of Nikolai Dmitrievich made a huge contribution to the foundry industry of Tyumen. According to some reports, the manufacturer was shot by the Red Army in Sverdlovsk in 1922. The brother of the founder of the iron foundry, Yakov Masharov, also rests here. His monument is well preserved. The remains of the father Dmitry Epifanovich Masharov are also buried here. On the base of the marble wall, the inscription "Peace be upon your ashes, dear parents and brother" has been preserved.

Also, representatives of the well-known family of merchants and philanthropists Averkievs are buried in the cemetery. There are graves here and other representativesmerchant class: Vasily Burkov, Pyotr Vorobeychikov, Pyotr Gilev, Vasily Golomidov.

Pyotr Matyagin rests in the cemetery and the head of Tyumen. He passed away at the end of the 19th century.

There is a grave of the Honored Doctor of the RSFSR Alexandra Krutkina.

Vladimir Yakovlevich Kuibyshev, who was the Tyumen military commander. He was buried in the necropolis before the revolution. He is the father of the Soviet party leader Valery Kuibyshev. Vladimir Kuibyshev belonged to a hereditary noble family, was a participant in the Russian-Japanese war, rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel and military commander of Tyumen. Kuibyshev's younger son Valerian was Stalin's closest ally. He was buried at the Kremlin wall. The fate of the eldest son Nikolai Kuibyshev was tragic. Three-time holder of the Order of the Red Banner, commander of the ZAKVO troops, he was shot in 1938.

Not far from the main entrance to the necropolis is the grave of the founder of the Plekhanov airport, Eduard Lukht. Under this person, airlines were opened connecting Tyumen with Tobolsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Berezov and Salekhard. Thanks to this person, mail planes began to function, as well as aircraft for transporting medicines, building materials and products. Tyumen pilots served expeditions of geologists and seismologists. Also, Lukht organized a scheduled repair of U-2 aircraft, erected bridges for launching hydroplanes. His great meritis the foundation of Plekhanov, Surgut and Berezovsky airports.

Danger when visiting a cemetery

It is not safe to visit the Tekutievo cemetery (Tyumen). The reason is that old trees, the roots of which have long rotted, can collapse on a person passing by at any moment. The fact that this is not fiction and not unnecessary warnings is evidenced by the many fences and monuments that bear traces of such incidents.

According to the deputy director of the necropolis Yevgeny Kvashnin, the grave of the merchant family Averkiev was recently restored by the heiress, and after some time a large tree fell not far from it. Kvashnin considers it a happy accident that the monuments were not damaged.

It has been established that 150 trees are dangerous. They were planted over a hundred years ago. After the inventory, they were marked with red crosses. Dry branches break off every day. When the wind picks up, all work on the cemetery stops. The intention to cut down trees did not find support among representatives of the Green Party.

Interesting proposals for the reconstruction of the cemetery

In 2009, the cemetery was cleaned up. Removed dry overgrown trees and weeds. As a result, approximately seven tons of garbage were removed from the churchyard.

After clearing, the paths were marked, which were saved. Approximately 6,000 graves have been found, most of which are unknown. All burials were made oncard.

Chairman of the Union of Architects of Tyumen, Ilfat Minulin, suggested installing stone signs for unknown burial places, and restoring the monuments, if possible. Graves that are being cared for were supposed to be left alone.

Despite the fact that the cemetery is isolated, there are paths along which people walk every day. Based on this, a proposal was made to let a limited number of groups into the territory of the necropolis, designate a work schedule and close the cemetery at certain hours.

Thus, the Tekutievskoye cemetery, whose history goes back many years, could take on the appearance of a park, which would have a central alley serving as a landmark in the area, as well as places for visitors to relax with asph alt paths, storm sewers and lighting.

The proposal to install several gates did not find a response from the residents of Tyumen. In their opinion, the cemetery is not a territory for walking or a way to shorten the way to work.

Citizens supported the idea of building a water pipeline, which would facilitate the care of flowers on the graves, and also made it possible to create mounds of sand and gravel.

One of the leading issues, according to the residents of Tyumen, is the introduction of protection of the cemetery, as vandalism is often noted.

The issue of designing tombstones in a single style was also considered, but the implementation of such a project is associated with some complexity. The fact is that on the territory of the necropolis, in addition tograves of Christians there are graves of Muslims and Jews.

A proposal was made to eliminate those graves that no one cares for, as well as to establish certain rules, according to which the townspeople will be required to monitor the graves. It was also said that the necropolis should continue to bury people who have merits before the city. This idea was introduced by one of the inhabitants of Tyumen. She received support from many.

An original proposal was put forward. Director of MKU "Necropolis" Alexander Seitkov spoke about the construction of a columbarium on the territory of the necropolis. If a crematorium ever functions in Tyumen, famous people can be buried in the niches of such a wall.

As the head of the administration of Tyumen Vasily Panov noted, these hearings on the cemetery are not the last. All proposals must be considered and taken into account at subsequent meetings. Many projects have remained only in words, as there is still no money for their implementation.

It should be recalled that the Tekutievo cemetery was closed in April 1962.
