History of the institution
On the shores of Lake Semenovskoye, for seven years, the building of the future home of the Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren, the current center for additional children's education "Lapland" in Murmansk, was being erected. The building project was developed at the Moscow Institute of Experimental Design in the form of a ship, as it corresponded to the image of a port city. The design of the building amazed the inhabitants of the city, because inside it was provided for a pool, a stage and even a small observatory in the tower. However, the observatory was not destined to open, everything else is functioning according to the plan.
November 6, 1985, the building opened its doors to the first students. Already in the first year of operation, 367 circles were opened in various areas, ready to teach up to six thousand children annually.
