Exposure

There are several exhibition halls in the museum building. An exhibition dedicated to the defenders of the city from the Nazis was placed in the lobby. Visitors are offered a map of hostilities in Voronezh and its environs. The exhibition "In Memory of the Fallen" presents portraits of military leaders of ancient times, commanders of the Civil War, marshals of the USSR.

The main exposition is located in a large exhibition hall, the center of which is occupied by a mini-diorama depicting the battle on the Chizhovsky bridgehead. The canvas, six meters wide and two meters long, was made for the tenth anniversary of the museum.

Fighting on "Chizhovka"began in September 1942. The soldiers, among whom were representatives of the Voronezh people's militia, recaptured the city from the enemy, who outnumbered the Soviet troops. The victory on the right-bank suburb of the city (1943) made it possible to launch the Voronezh-Kastoren offensive operation. Today, a branch of Diorama operates at the site of the bloody battles.

Exhibits dedicated to the Navy are collected on the ground floor. Visitors are interested in the decrees of Peter I, a submarine from the times of the Patriotic War (a model), the anchor of an 18th-century Turkish ship found in the Sea of Azov, and other relics.

Voronezh is the city where the airborne troops were formed. Portraits of servicemen involved in an important event are located on the second floor. There is also a showcase with personal belongings of the Air Force command staff, informational, documentary materials, a table reflecting the combat path of the airborne troops.

The administration and staff of the museum did not ignore the soldiers-internationalists. A separate room presents materials about the heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia who fought in Spain, Cuba, Afghanistan, Africa, and the North Caucasus.

Also, Voronezh (Diorama Museum) invites you to thematic expositions.

Common Grave 6

The memorial complex dedicated to the war against fascism, along with the Diorama, includes an exhibition of armored vehicles, artillery and a mass grave with registration number 6. Soldiers and officers who fell in battles for the city are buried here.

In 1942, German troops captured part of Voronezh. To liberate the city from enemies, Soviet soldiers dug in in the area between the Vogresovsky bridge and the Chernavskaya dam. The Nazis bombed and fired at the soldiers all the time. The dead soldiers were buried in a grove near the village of Monastyrshchenki. Today the area is part of the city, and the groveconverted into Patriot Park.

Until the beginning of the 90s, a monument towered over the mass grave: a soldier breaks a swastika. The monument was dismantled, but in 2010, in connection with the awarding of the title of "City of Military Glory" to Voronezh, a stele appeared in front of the "Diorama" building.
