The younger generation in a specific social group began to allocate not so long ago. Either excessive hopes are placed on her, or they are scolded, predicting the death of the centuries-old way of life from her hand. But this is only moral reasoning.

What are youth really like?

Youth as the vanguard of society

For the first time, anthropologist Margared Mead spoke about the revolutionary role of youth in society. The scientist noticed that in the middle of the twentieth century, young people ceased to play the role of a student. Boys and girls began to act as a "social bulldozer": they cleared the way for change.

The young generation of the 60s in the USA is the generation of non-conformists. They rejected outdated state morality, racial and class prejudice, and ostentatious religiosity. All these vices in the society of the future should not exist. It was this generation that created the counterculture phenomenon.

In the mid-twentieth century, the old conservative generation of Americans saw the youth as a threat to their existence. The newspapers were full of "sensational" articles about the shocking behavior of hippies. At anti-war ralliescarried out mass arrests. All the forces of the conservative society were thrown to save it.

Fly in the ointment

The meaning of the younger generation is not always progressive. In the last century, American boys and girls have achieved the relaxation of cruel racist laws, ended the war in Vietnam, abolished military service. But overall, the fight against the old society was lost.

The modern young generation in the post-Soviet space has not even begun its struggle. Culturally, these people even lose to their fathers and mothers. The decline in the level of education, economic problems and, as a result, the general infantilization of the generation - all this creates a portrait of the "future" society.

The big problem is the significant shift to the right of young people. Radicalization occurs not only in the subcultural environment. Street fans have long attracted the attention of even law enforcement agencies. The fact is that contempt for emigrants, "gentiles" (primarily Muslims) under the influence of the media becomes socially acceptable.

Together with social and economic problems, this gives impetus to the development of extremist organizations.

Who is to blame and what to do?

Blaming the fact that the younger generation is not right now, we need, first of all, educators - parents, grandparents and the whole society. First of all, you need to think about whether they had a chance to grow up differently?

Of course, the conditions of today's youth are better than those of children who grew up in the 90s. But other problems have not gone away. Zerothe quality of education, the often unfavorable situation in the family, the influence of low mass culture - all this was reflected in the modern appearance of boys and girls.

The role and importance of the younger generation was expressed long ago by Margaret Mead. The youth must become the very bulldozer that will clear the way to a future free of exploitation, exclusion and other problems. Just need to give young people a chance.

Is there any reason to panic?

Most of the researchers argue that it is not worth being afraid of the times when the modern young generation will decide the fate of the state. Even in ancient times, it was customary to scold children for misbehaving and destroying the foundations of society.

Just look around. The last years can be called rather a time of destruction than a time of creation. It is unlikely that today's youth will be even worse…
