The direction in painting, called "impressionism", originated in France. However, very soon it spread throughout the world, forcing artists to abandon the accepted static canons in favor of dynamism. At the end of the 19th - at the beginning of the 20th century, the Russian school of impressionism was formed, the works of the followers of which were more material and substantive than those of their French counterparts.
At the end of May 2016, there were reports in the press about the opening of a new cultural facility on the territory of the former Bolshevik confectionery factory. The Museum of Russian Impressionism (this is the name given to this collection of works of art) invites everyone to see the paintings of famous artists who worked at the turn of the century before last and the last, and take part in various educational events.
Building
Museum of Russian Impressionism (address: Leningradsky pr., 15, building 11)is located in a building that was reconstructed from the former warehouse of the Bolshevik factory. The architectural design was carried out by British architectural firm John McAslan and Partners. From the outside, the building has minimalist features, and the layout of the interior was made taking into account the need to use the most advanced museum technologies. In particular, the creators of the project tried to make the most of the opportunities provided by the round shape of the building. The result is a multilayer curved screen. It was decided to use it to project installations by contemporary US artist Jean-Christophe Coué, which demonstrate the process of creating paintings.
