In the Middle East, wars have not stopped since ancient times, but the peoples inhabiting this territory suffer from this. These were the Kurds. They are now one of the divided nations. The Kurdistan Workers' Party dreams of creating a country for representatives of this nation. The struggle has been going on for centuries.
Problem history
You need to understand that the Kurds live in a territory that was constantly conquered by their neighbors. This is the root of the problem. The proud people simply did not have the opportunity to build their own state, protecting their rights. Therefore, the PKK was formed. This organization is fighting for the restoration of historical justice. After all, for many centuries the people had to endure humiliating restrictions on the part of the conquerors. Turkey was at war with Iran, and the fighting took place in the territories inhabited by the Kurds. In principle, all these battles did not lead to anything. The borders have hardly changed. The Kurds staged uprisings, fought for independence, but their strength was not enough. Their leaders are notgave up. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, a Kurdish state was even proclaimed. Mahmed Pasha Revanduzi tried to create it. But each time the desire of the people for an independent and peaceful life ran into a tough rebuff from the Turks, then the Persians.
Current situation
To understand what the Kurdistan Workers Party is today, it is enough to know one thing: this people is divided today. Its representatives live in Turkey, Iraq and Syria. Their desire for independence, despite brutal suppression, has not been broken, especially since the Middle East is now a "powder keg". There are constantly clashes of various forces, turning into a bloody massacre. Unfortunately, the Kurds live at the crossroads of the destroyed countries. Syria and Iraq cannot currently be considered normal states. The authorities of both countries retain control over only small pieces of territory. In other zones, a banned IS organization operates. Its methods are known to the whole world, and they cannot be called humane. The Kurdistan Workers' Party under these conditions organizes the protection of the population from everyone. These are not simple words, because the Kurds are literally surrounded by enemies. Their settlements are threatened by gangs, and there is no one to seek protection from. Only the people themselves can take care of themselves. The Kurdish Workers' Party creates armed formations designed to perform the functions of both the police and the army. Political scientists argue that this is the state in its infancy. Almost the Syrian Kurds were able toself-organize, develop rules of existence for the people, create effective protection of territories.
Turkey and PKK
Iran and Syria are practically destroyed. This misfortune gave the Kurds a chance to gain independence. Turkey is another matter. In this country, the authorities do not want to put up with the "separatist sentiments" of part of the population. Turkey has officially recognized that the PKK is a terrorist organization. Its activities are banned in the country. The representatives of this organization are being fought by the special services and the police. At the end of 2015, an anti-terrorist operation was launched in Turkey. It is conducted in those areas where the Kurds live. Political scientists express confidence that Turkey is gradually plunging into a civil war, as Ukraine did earlier. The fact is that the authorities cannot allow all political parties to operate freely in the country, and they try not to convey their programs to the population. The situation in this country is very tense. The Kurds seek independence, which will lead to the loss of territories by Turkey.
International consensus
Many experts are sure that the Kurdish problem cannot be solved by local forces. The peoples need help from the international community. But the situation is complicated by the fact that in these territories there are many terrorist organizations recognized as such in some countries. Before granting independence to the Kurds, it is necessaryfree countries from them. This is what the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation did in the fall of 2015. Negotiations are underway with the Kurds. They are generally separated on a territorial basis. The Syrians say they are not pushing for secession. The Iraqi Kurds have actually formed their own state, the Turkish ones are fighting with the authorities. Time will tell how the Kurdish issue will be resolved. However, one cannot do without the UN Security Council. It is necessary to use all possible diplomatic means so that the blood of the long-suffering people ceases to irrigate the land.
