About the museum
What can surprise the city of Murmansk? The Art Museum is its highlight. Before proceeding to a more detailed description, I would like to note the beautiful building of the museum. It looks especially great during the snowy winter, as it turns into a real fairy-tale house - that's what winter Murmansk is beautiful for. The art museum, the photo of which we will see below, celebrates its birthday on January 17 - just in time for snowfalls and snowstorms.
On December 19, 1989, the first exhibition hall dedicated to the 7th zonal exhibition "Soviet North" was opened. On January 17, 1990, it officially became the Murmansk Regional Art Museum. At the same time, his collection was replenished with the best works of graphics, sculpture, arts and crafts and painting fromregional museum of local lore. To date, the museum has more than seven thousand pieces of art samples. A large number of works are paintings of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, as well as graphics by Leningrad artists. Has Murmansk itself left its mark on the museum? The Art Museum presents a large number of works by local artists and craftsmen from all over Russia. Every connoisseur of Russian creativity will definitely appreciate the collection!
Murmansk Art Museum location
The Art Museum is located in the first public building made of stone, which was built back in 1927 and belonged to the Transport Consumer Society. In past years, the building was the heart of the social life of the townspeople, as it housed the largest shop and canteen. Unfortunately, during the war years it was badly damaged - the fragile glass dome was destroyed, but it was the main decoration. Contemporaries never restored it, but the building itself was reconstructed when it was under the department of the Department of Culture.
Museum Address
If you are planning a trip to Murmansk, the Art Museum has the following address: Komintern Street, 13. You should find out the work schedule in advance, as changes are possible. In 1927, Komintern Street was an ordinary road with wooden log cabins on the sides. Then the museum building seemed like a real skyscraper against this background, as it stood on a hill and had, as we already know, a beautiful glass dome.
Any time of the dayand nights you can visit Murmansk, the Art Museum has a special opening hours: Monday and Tuesday are days off for visitors, and on Friday the institution is open from 11:00 to 19:00.
Exposure
The exposition called "Native Fine Arts of the 18th-20th Centuries", which has several branches, is a permanent one. Russian art is represented by the works of A. Borisov, I. Galkin and M. Klodt. It is also worth noting that in the museum you can admire the exquisite masterpieces of unknown authors. Russian creativity is presented in all its diversity: painting, sculpture, graphics, arts and crafts, etc. However, the collection of graphics is the most numerous. You can see the work of Murmansk, Moscow and Leningrad masters.
The active work of the museum allows you to regularly hold exhibitions in conjunction with regional and federal museums - the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Tver Gallery, etc. In addition, the museum has widely developed methodological and scientific activities, as well as pedagogical work. Since 2004, a multimedia cinema has been operating here, which has an extensive educational program. The cinema operates on the basis of the Virtual Branch of the State Russian Museum.
Murmansk contribution
The section of painting of the region is very rich. Here visitors can admire the works of B. Syukhin, N. Kovalev and A. Hattunen, andalso V. Baranov - Chairman of the Union of Artists of Russia. Murmansk masters of arts and crafts are known throughout Russia for their amazing creations, and everyone will be able to see their best work. The museum presents the works of T. Chernomor, E. Baranov, V. Zubitskaya and R. Chebaturina. The final exposition will introduce the observer to the northern fisheries. It is known that the Kola North has always attracted the most creative people. It was they who left behind a cultural heritage worthy of respect and admiration. Beautiful examples of wood painting, clay toys, chiseled bone and wood carvings are just a few of the interesting things that every visitor to the museum will see.
Murmansk Art Museum reviews
Employees note that the works of G. Vereisky, A. Pakhomov, V. Favorsky, D. Mochalsky, S. Yuntunen, B. Yognason enjoy the greatest love. Reviews about the museum are positive, since the only negative side is that visitors would like to see more exhibits. Those who visited the museum in winter note the incredible beauty of the building and the unreality of the atmosphere itself.
Summing up some results of the article, I would like to say that the importance of visiting cultural places and the comprehensive development of one's personality can hardly be overestimated. To remain a man with a capital letter, it is necessary to live not only in the material world, but also to be able to feel the huge cultural heritage and splendor that we inherited from the past.generations.
