The M4 "Don" highway without exaggeration can be called one of the main transport arteries of Russia. It starts in Moscow and after 1543 kilometers ends in Novorossiysk, passing near or through such important cities as Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar.

Every year, millions of people choose this particular road, going to the Sea of Azov, Sochi, Crimea or Anapa. The track is constantly being upgraded, high-speed toll sections M4 are being built. They allow you to quickly bypass settlements and reduce traffic jams.

Toll section of the M4 road: payment rules

The fee is charged at special points located on the track. They are visible from afar, and it is impossible to drive past them. When approaching the M4 toll section, the driver needs to slow down and choose one of the lanes leading to the ticket office. Electronics will automatically determine the category of the car, and the amount to be paid will be displayed on the scoreboard near the cash register. You can pay in cash or by bankcards.

M4 toll sections have two rates, depending on the time of day: from midnight to seven in the morning there is a night rate, which is significantly lower than the daily rates, which last from seven in the morning to midnight.

Transponder

There is another way to reduce the cost of travel on the M4 "Don" highway. Paid sections will be cheaper if you make the calculation using a transponder attached to the glass. It can be bought at special points of sale. A transponder is a small electronic device with a battery that lasts for several years.

The principle of its operation is simple: at the entrance to the payment points, the driver changes lanes with the inscription T-Pass and reduces the speed to 20 km/h, a single signal is heard, and the preferential cost is withdrawn from the account remotely. There is no need to stop, get money or a card, get change, wasting time. As a rule, there are no traffic jams on the T-Pass lanes, unlike regular lanes.

The transponder is especially beneficial for drivers who regularly use this road. Even with regular trips from the capital to Voronezh, the savings are significant. The main thing is not to forget to replenish the account. This can be done through the Personal Account, using payment terminals, electronic money, from a phone or an ATM. Moreover, if the money on the personal account is running out, the transponder will warn the owner about this with a double signal.

Transport categories

The cost of the M4 toll section depends on the category assigned to the transportmeans (TS). There are four of them, classified according to the height of the vehicle and the number of its wheel axles:

First category: height up to 2 meters, axles - 2.

Second category: height 2.0-2.6 m, axles - 2 or more.

Third category: height from 2.6 meters, axes - 2.

Fourth category: height from 2.6 meters, axles - 3.0 and more.
