Moscow Metro (Moscow Metro) is predominantly an underground rail public electric transport of the city of Moscow. Partially goes to the territory of the Moscow region. It has a well developed transport network. It is the largest in Russia and the former USSR and the sixth in the world in terms of passenger traffic. Opened in 1935, becoming the first in the history of the USSR.
Now the Moscow metro includes 14 lines, 222 stations, 44 of which are a real work of art. The total length of the lines is 379.1 km. According to the projects, 29 more stations will appear in Moscow by 2021, and the total length of lines will increase by at least 55 km.
Filyovskaya metro line is located in the western part of the capital and mostly runs along the surface. The closure of the Filevskaya metro line in October 2018 was due to repair work and concerned only part of it.
Moscow Metro Lines
The total number of metro lines is 14. One of them is the Moscow Central Ring. Each line is indicated by a circle of a certain color with a number assigned to it. Almost all of them pass through the central part of the Russian capital. The only exceptions are Butovskaya and Kakhovskaya lines.
Filyovskaya metro line
This line is marked with a blue circle and has the 4th number. It was opened in 1958 and the last station on this line started operating in 2006.
The length of the Filevskaya line is 14.9 km. The number of stations on it is 13, and the average distance between them is 1.24 km. The average station depth is 6.28 meters, which is much less than most other Moscow metro lines.
Filyovskaya line is located in the western part of the metro network. This is the western part of the city. There is a historical area called Fili. The Filyovskaya line is characterized by frequent exposure to the surface. The length of the stations is small, and it does not accommodate more than 6 cars. The track itself is often uneven, angular, with slopes.
Filyovskaya line of the Moscow metro passes about 143,000 people a day.
History of the Filyovskaya Line
The history of the line dates back to 1935. Then the first section was built: "Comintern Street" - "Smolenskaya". Filevskaya metro line after 2 years was completed to the station. "Kyiv". Due to hostilities in 1941 after a bomb hitIt was decided to abandon the tunnel from this line, and instead build a parallel section, but at a greater depth. As a result, warehouses were equipped at the stations, and reserve trains were kept in the tunnels.
But a few years later they decided to abandon the new construction, and it was decided to reopen the Kalininskaya-Kyiv section and continue this line further to the west. The re-opening took place on November 7, 1958.
At first, it was supposed to open the entire section from "Filey" to "Kievskaya" as a whole. However, one of the tunnels was not completed in time, so initially the trains began to go to the Kutuzovskaya station, and not to the Fili station. The latter was opened only on November 7, 1959, that is, exactly one year later.
It was gradually extended by adding new stations of the Filevskaya metro line. This happened in 1961, 1965 and 1989. In 2005, a branch was built from the line, which went to the "Business Center" (now it is the "Vystavochnaya" station). And in 2006, the next International station was opened. In 2008, the line was cut to st. "Kuntsevskaya" in connection with the transfer of its part to the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, which was associated with the development of the latter.
Model trains
During the existence of the line, different types of rolling stock were used on it. In total there were over 10 models. They successively replaced each other. However, in recent years, preference has been given to trains of the Moskva model. From 2019, only such people will walk along the line.
Line Perspectives
Bthere will be no construction work to extend the line in the near future. In the long term, there is a possibility of its extension in the western direction to Skolkovo, Mozhaisky, Troekurovo.
Closing the Filevskaya metro line
On October 6th and 7th, 2018, the section between Kuntsevskaya and Kyiv stations was closed for repairs. These numbers are for the weekend. The renovation was major. The closed section includes the following stations of the Moscow Metro: Studencheskaya, Pionerskaya, Kutuzovskaya, Fili, Filevsky Park, Bagrationovskaya. As for the Kuntsevskaya station, it will operate only within the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line. Thus, the closure of the Filevskaya metro line was short-lived and incomplete.
The site was supposed to reopen on Monday, 8th, at 5:30. In order to compensate for the lack of transport communication, it was supposed to organize the transportation of passengers by bus along special routes KM1 and KM2. The first were supposed to run between the stations "Kyiv" and "Kuntsevskaya", and the second - between the station. "Fili" and "Bagrationovskaya". Working hours - from 5:00 to 2:00. Inspectors were supposed to be on duty at closed metro stations.
The planned work on the reconstruction of the Filevskaya metro line included: strengthening the retaining walls between the Studencheskaya and Kutuzovskaya stations, finishing the platform and concreting the vestibules of the Kuntsevskaya station, performing construction work onstations "Bagrationovskaya" and "Filyovsky Park", laying pipelines under the railway bed. Such work required the cessation of train traffic.
Technical features of the Filyovskaya line
- This is the only line of the Moscow metro that does not use turnaround sidings behind the last stations.
- Out of six metro stations with curved platforms, 4 belong to the Filevskaya line.
- A record short distance between stations in Moscow (498 meters) is on this line. These are Vystavochnaya and Mezhdunarodnaya stations.
- Between "Vystavochnaya" and "Kievskaya" there is the largest angle of inclination among all the stages of the Moscow metro.
- The longest ground section (between Studencheskaya and Kuntsevskaya). Its length is 9.6 km, and the travel time along it is 16.5 minutes.
Conclusion
Thus, the closure of the Filevskaya metro line is a past stage, which is now only of historical interest. The repair work carried out will obviously have a positive effect on the quality of transportation. The reconstruction of the Filevskaya metro line can now be considered completed.
