Introduction

Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade No. 138 is a military formation assigned to the Ground Forces of the Russian Armed Forces. The Krasnoselskaya Red Banner Brigade was awarded the Order of Lenin and, together with the 6th Combined Arms Army, operates as part of the Western Military District. Conventionally referred to as Military Unit 02511. The formation is equipped with anti-aircraft missile, artillery battalions, reconnaissance, motorized rifle and tank battalions. Subordinated to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and performs the functions of motorized rifle troops.

Formation history

In 1934, the 70thrifle division. For two years it was assigned to the Volga Military District (VO). In 1936, in order to strengthen the northwestern borders, the division was relocated closer to Leningrad. From 1939 to 1940 Soviet soldiers of the 70th division fought heroically for cities in the Gulf of Finland, for which they were awarded the Order of Lenin. In 1941, this military formation was one of the first to attack the Nazis near the city of Soltsy. For the courage and heroism shown in battle, the 70th division was soon renamed the 45th Guards Rifle Division. In 1944, the forces of this military formation carried out a breakthrough of the Leningrad blockade. As a result, the guards motorized rifle division recaptured the settlement of Krasnoye Selo. Further, in honor of this village, the division began to be called Krasnoselskaya, and the name "Leningrad" was assigned to its individual regiments. In the early summer of 1944, Soviet soldiers as part of the 45th division were sent to the B altic. The place of battle for them was the Karelian Isthmus. After the end of the Great Patriotic War, a separate motorized rifle division of the Krasnoselskaya named after. Lenin was staffed with the Leningrad Military District.

In the post-war period, there were troops in the army, the composition of which was subject to further reduction. Further, they were going to form motorized rifle and missile formations and send them to Cuba. At that time, the Caribbean crisis was beginning to gain momentum there. Until 1962, the 45th Guards Rifle Division was assigned to such troops. This state of affairs continued until 1980. From 1988 to 1990gg. several different units were assigned to the 45th division. The formation was replenished with the 134th motorized rifle regiment that left Afghanistan, and in 1991 with the 129th motorized rifle regiment. The mid-90s was the period when the military formation was finally named the 138th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade. In 1992, after the brigade was given peacekeeping status, its personnel were sent to South Ossetia, Tajikistan, Abkhazia and Transnistria.

Our days

In 2009, after the reorganization, the brigade became a linear part, and personal numbers were removed from the units. In 2010, the Leningrad Military District was liquidated, and military unit 02511 was attached to the Western Military District.

Where is the part located?

The location of the military unit was the village of Kamenka in the Vyborgsky district (Leningrad region). Due to the fact that the unit is located on the training ground, which begins immediately after the checkpoint, it is also called the "field academy".
