How the historical museum was created in Minsk
In 1908 enthusiasts founded a museum dedicated to history in the Belarusian capital. It was located in the Bishop's Compound and opened once a week. It became the first museum institution of its kind in Minsk. A few years later, a separate building is allocated for the museum exposition.
In 1923, the Belarusian State Museum was opened, which received visitors until the Second World War. But during the occupation, many exhibits were stolen or destroyed. It took a long time to restore the exposition. The museum complex reopened in 1957
For 50 years, the institution was repeatedly renamed, until in 2009 its current name was finally determined - the National Historical Museum of the RepublicBelarus.

It will not be difficult even for a visitor to get to the National Historical Museum. The complex is located in the center of the capital of Belarus, and you can find it at the address: Historical Museum, Minsk, Karl Marx, 12.
The street is located parallel to the main avenue of the capital - Independence Avenue. Therefore, it is convenient to get on the metro, getting off at the station Oktyabrskaya or Ploshchad Lenina. You will have to walk about 600-800 m.
A lot of buses and minibuses run along Independence Avenue, so you can get to the center quickly and without problems.
Entrance fees
For Russian tourists, the price of entrance tickets to the Historical Museum of Minsk will seem ridiculous.
General inspection of the expositions in the main building andbranches costs:
- for an adult visitor - 20 rubles;
- students - 16 rubles;
- schoolchildren - 12 p.
Preschoolers, like a significant number of preferential categories, are free of charge.
