The forest itself is not dangerous, but there are some threats and obstacles that can overshadow the trip for mushrooms, so it is so important to properly prepare for such an event. Focus and caution are the main things that come in handy in the forest.

Before you go on a mushroom hunt, you should thoroughly prepare for it, because the success of the event depends on it. First, you need to choose protective clothing. It should be dense so that mosquitoes cannot penetrate through it, it will also help against unwanted scratches on tree branches and from hypothermia (it is always colder in the forest). It is best to have a hat with you in both cold and hot weather. Shoes need to be given special attention. The best option are rubber boots, they are able to protect the legs with high quality. Secondly, you need to take care of the equipment:
- basket, bucket or bag for mushrooms;
- mosquito repellent;
- stalk knife;
- compass (if the place is unfamiliar), watch, phone - in order not to lose track of time and be determined in space.
Third, ifIf you plan to go to the forest for a long time, then you need to take with you foods with a long shelf life for a snack: cookies, water, stew, vegetables or other. Individuals should take care of medication.
Who to go with
Going into the forest is best with experienced mushroom pickers, as they are likely to be well versed in the area and know exactly which mushrooms are edible and which are poisonous. Organized mushroom picking events are possible, they are held by mushroom picking clubs.
You can organize such leisure by agreeing with the people who are members of such an organization. You can find your own “silent hunting” club in almost every region. You can also get a lot of useful practical advice from them about picking mushrooms, rules of conduct in the forest, and so on.
How to behave in the forest
You need to be careful while looking for mushrooms, because the forest can be unsafe. Follows:
- at the edge of the forest, look around, remember the entry point, mark it (if required);
- during the entire stay, look under your feet so as not to fall into a hole, a hole or an anthill;
- you can find a chest-length stick and walk, leaning on it and feeling the ground under your feet, you can also use the stick to move branches and cobwebs away;
- do not move away from the group, constantly be in sight;
- do not collect unknown mushrooms.
Before going into the forest, it is very important to notify at least someone close to you. Tell your family where you are going, with whom and when you plan to return. Going for mushrooms, it is important to wear bright clothes. This will allow comrades to see you from afar. It is best to follow these minimum rules so that the rest is not overshadowed.
