Red oak (Quercus rubra) is a not very tall tree with a conical crown. Usually does not exceed a height of more than twenty meters. It is also called holly, as well as Canadian, or northern. In the USA, where this oak comes from, it is of great value for forestry. It is from the beech family. Photos of red oak are often associated with Canada.

This tree blooms with short small earrings, which are collected in bunches. The fruits are spherical brown acorns. In some European countries they are used as food. They taste like chestnuts and, if cooked properly, are very satisfying and fragrant. In North America, acorns are fed to animals, particularly pigs. Young trees bear fruit poorly. Red oak thrives best in moderately moist soil, loves light and does not respond well to strong darkening. Frost-resistant and slightly susceptible to various diseases. Needs crown formation. In cities, these trees filter dirty air well and protect the city from noise. They can be planted even in places where there is a strong gas pollution due to transport.
