Once upon a time, twenty thousand years ago, a "mammoth" species of camel lived in North America - the ancestor of the modern humpbacked animal. When global cooling occurred, camels set off on a long journey - in search of food and a more favorable climate. Then they did not yet have humps - the main storage of energy and water. The camel's hump appeared much later, as a result of evolution.

Modern camel

Now it's hard to imagine camels without a hump. Due to this natural gift, the camel is considered the hardiest animal on the planet. The hump is a fatty growth. Thanks to him, the camel can easily do without water for about two weeks, and without food for a whole month. Now there are three species: two-humped Bactrians, dromedaries - one-humped and a hybrid camel nar. Nar is the result of crossing the first two species. From his parents, he adopted the best qualities. Nars are much larger and more powerful than their ancestors. They are more adapted to life in harsh conditions, bring offspring more often. The one-humped camel nar is only at first glance one-humped. In fact, he has two humps fused into one.

Nar - camel exclusively domestic. This is a hard worker. Camels have become popular in the economy for a long time. They are much more profitable to keep than cows. The animal rarely eats and consumes little water, which is convenient for keeping in harsh areas. Easily tolerates both heat and cold, long journeys and heavy loads. Nar is a camel-breadwinner: his milk is fatter than goat's. From such milk, excellent butter, cheese and sour cream are obtained. Camel meat is tender, tasty and nutritious. An adult bunk reaches eight hundred kilograms in weight, of all this weight there is practically no fat. Nar is a camel that has exceptional quality wool. It is by nature like a thermos - it does not let cold or hot sunlight into the body. Another important difference between camel wool and other wool is that it absolutely does not cause allergic reactions.

Why are camels so hardy?

Nar is a camel, although it is domestic, but it, like its wild relatives, has all the necessary qualities in order to live peacefully in the desert or cross it with goods. To prevent hot sand from burning their feet, camels have calluses on their feet. The same growths are on the elbows and stomach, so that you can lie down on the hot ground during the rest. The narrow nostrils are designed to close completely to protect the lungs during a sandstorm. In the nose of the animal there are so-called cells. When exhaling, moisture does not go into the air, but accumulates in them, in order to then enter the stomach. Another nar - camel withperfect vision and smell. They can smell water and food for sixty kilometers! They are able to see people being a kilometer away from them, and moving vehicles - four or six kilometers away - depending on the terrain. Camels can quench their thirst even with s alty sea water, which also has a considerable advantage in terms of survival. After all, you never know where the path will lead - to the river or the ocean.
