The city of Vladimir is the capital of the Grand Duchy of Vladimir in the period from the 12th to the 14th century. Today this tourist center of the European part of Russia is part of the famous Golden Ring. The city has preserved many monuments of medieval Russian architecture, and some buildings are even included in the UNESCO list.
Attractions
On excursions in Vladimir you can see the Golden Gate, the Cathedral of the Assumption, and the Cathedral of St. Demetrius. There are many buildings of the 16th-20th centuries in the city, which are no less attractive and visited. Excursion programs often include a visit to the village of Kideksha. It is located on Lake Nerl just in the place where the river Kamenka flows into it. It is here that the most ancient temple of the Russian land - Boris and Gleb - is located.
But, do not think that in Vladimir, excursions "revolve" only around secular and religious complexes. The notorious “Vladimirsky Central” is located in the city. This prison appeared in 1783 and operates for its intended purpose to the present. Many famous people were its prisoners. For example, Prince Dolgorukov P. and Vasily Stalin. The sung chanson establishment now has a museum open to all comers.

Vladimir- the medieval capital of Russia
The excursion program is designed for 2-3 hours, with a mandatory visit to the main attraction - the Golden Gate, with an inspection of the place where, according to experts, the very ancient gates (1164) were fixed. Further, the guests of the city visit the Assumption Cathedral, where they examine the frescoes of Andrei Rublev, and then go to the Dmitrievsky Cathedral with 500 carved stones. The day ends with a visit to the observation decks of the city of Vladimir and a story about evening leisure. In this case, all entrance fees are paid by travelers.
Vladimir: ancient legends
This is a sightseeing tour of Vladimir led by a tripster. It is calculated for 3 hours. In addition to the main attractions of the city, the program includes visits to the following historical sites:
- Knyaginin Monastery;
- Our Lady of the Nativity Monastery;

If travelers wish and the weather conditions are favorable, it is possible to move to Bogolyubovo, where there are also many interesting ancient places and picturesque nature.
Team tours
Some agencies offer group excursions in Vladimir with quite interesting programs. Visitors are met at the railway station, and almost immediately an excursion called "Seven touches of history" begins. It usually includes:
- walk on the hills of cathedrals and churches (Rozhdestvensky, Dmitrievsky and Assumption);
- visiting the Noble Assembly Building.
At the end of the visit, visitors are invited to a set lunch, after which the tour continues with an animated walk with the Governor. This is a passage along the merchant part of Vladimir: from the Golden Gate to Georgievskaya Street, which, by the way, was built on the principle of the Moscow Arbat. Guide-Mayor along the way will tell and even show a little how our ancestors lived.
Then a visit to St. George's Church, with the relics of the mother of Alexander Nevsky, is planned. And at the end of the tour of the city of Vladimir, travelers will be taken to the House of Masters.
Custom tours
There is an interesting program "Saints of Vladimir", which includes a visit:

Naturally, these are not all city tour programs.
You can always go to this ancient city on your own. There are programs on the Internet that have been developed for a long time, that is, the “trodden” paths are already ready. In addition, for sophisticated tourists, tour agencies offer completely unique programs, for example, the “Vladimir Bar Tour”.
And, of course, you can visit the legendary security facility - "Vladimirsky Central". Included in the programexternal inspection of the prison and the monument to M. Frunze, a visit to the Prince Vladimir cemetery, as well as the exposition "Vladimir Central".
