Otrada is a farmstead located in the Moscow region. The Lopasnya river flows in the Stupinsky district, on the banks of which there is a historical estate, which is one of the largest suburban complexes.
Otrada is famous for the fact that it has completely preserved the appearance that was formed in the 17th-19th centuries. But a beautiful historical and architectural monument is on the verge of extinction.
Founder of the estate
Otrada is a manor, founded by the director of the Academy of Sciences, the youngest of the five Orlov brothers, who rose under Catherine II. Vladimir Grigorievich became an orphan very early and remained in the care of his brothers. He studied abroad, but was very fond of everything Russian and never spoke French. Having become the director of the academy, he brought it out of a deplorable state and even tried to keep all the documentation in Russian. In 1774, Count Vladimir Grigorievich retired and settled in Semyonovsky. Catherine II granted the lands of the Khatun volost to Alexei Grigorievich, who gave part of them to his younger brother. According to some sources, V. G. Orlov bought this land himself.
OnEnglish manner
Otrada, the estate that belonged to the Orlovs and Orlov-Davydovs until the revolution, after it was barbarously plundered, the good was taken out by dozens of carts. The first owner began to build it in 1774, that is, immediately after his retirement. He, according to contemporaries, invited one of the best architects of that time, but no documentary evidence has been preserved of whom exactly - K. Blank or V. Bazhenov.
Many experts are inclined to believe that the latter, since the building resembles the Mikhailovsky Castle by V. Bazhenov. There are other opinions as well. It is only known that the mansion was originally conceived as the home of an English lord (the count probably loved the English, unlike the French). It was supposed to be built on a high hill, and he himself had to rise to three floors. But at the request of the owner, the mansion was moved closer to the river, and it eventually became a two-story one.
Noble Nest
From 1774 to 1779, the Otrada country estate was being equipped. "Manor" is a term that implies a single complex of residential, utility, park, and some other buildings and, as a rule, includes a park. The Orlovs' estate, located at the foot of the hill, is surrounded by a beautiful landscape park.
Landscape, or irregular, park - a purely English invention. Another name for it is English. Obviously, thanks to him, the Semenovskoye-Otrada estate was supposed to resemble the lord's possessions. In the estatethere is a church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the chapel of which is consecrated in honor of Vladimir. Permission for its construction was obtained in 1777. Among the outbuildings, a barn decorated with white brick, a smithy designed in a pseudo-Gothic style, several greenhouses and a tomb located in a pine grove stand out. Initially, it was made in the form of a rotunda, and the deceased Orlov brothers were buried in it.
Subsequent owners
The daughter of Vladimir Grigoryevich later replaced the dilapidated rotunda with a beautiful mausoleum by D. Gilardi, a Swiss architect who worked in Moscow. Under her rule, the Orlova Otrada estate was sold. In 1845, shortly before the death of E. V. Novosiltsev, nee Orlova sold the estate to her nephew V. P. Davydov. He also invited eminent architects for its improvement. Under all subsequent owners, the Semenovskoye-Otrada estate was improved and landscaped. Under V. P. Davydov, rotunda terraces were attached to the mansion, and two greenhouses from the side overlooking the park. The park itself has changed for the better. And Count A. V. Orlov-Davydov, becoming the next owner of Otrada, as a sign of deep gratitude, placed a bust of Catherine II, made of bronze, in front of the house. All the Orlovs considered her the benefactor of their family. M. Lomonosov's personal library and telescope were kept here for a hundred years, famous writers and the best people of Russia have been here.
Sad picture
Of course, after the revolution, the estate suffered - it was ruined and plundered. Then it had both a technical school and an NKVD school. Now the beautythe estate is abandoned by everyone and is in a terrible state.
The once grandiose palace ensemble, famous for the fact that it contained busts of all the Orlov brothers by the brilliant F. Shubin, is included in the list of "100 world monuments in danger of destruction", and this is encouraging. I am also glad that the estate is guarded, as it is located on the territory of the FSB sanatorium. You can get there by personal transport - along the F-108 highway.
Joy of the Kaluga Region
The name of the once majestic complex sounds pleasant to the ear, and therefore this name is often given to modern private estates or some other complexes. There is more than one modern estate Otrada. The Kaluga region boasts a wonderful boarding house of the same name.
It is located on the banks of the Oka River, in a birch grove. This is a cozy modern year-round boarding house with excellent infrastructure, equipped with everything necessary for a good rest. Warm bright cottages (44 houses) and a two-story restaurant "Ta-Rus" with a conference room and a bar, a shop, a Russian bathhouse and a spa, a swimming pool and billiards, outdoor football and volleyball courts, a well-groomed beach on the banks of the Oka - you can't count everything, but everything can be found on the site of the estate. Crimean "Otrada Estate"
On the newly acquired peninsula there is also a private boarding house under the same name - "Usadba Otrada". Crimea is washed by the Black and Azov seas. On the shore of the latter, 40 kilometers from Kerch and 60 from Feodosia, in the center of the Kazatinsky Bay, this wonderful boarding house is located, 100 meters from the sea. It differs from other boarding houses primarily in that there is a certified well on its territory, the water in which is table-medicinal, capable of normalizing bowel function.
The walls of the houses are made of natural shell rock material, which provides coolness in the rooms even on very hot days. Not very far away is Lake Chikrak with therapeutic mud, which can also be obtained in a boarding house. On the territory of the Otrada Manor, in addition to the necessary infrastructure, there is a vineyard and a wonderful orchard. The buildings are two-story, with shaded balconies. The farm provides a variety of three meals a day. Such is the Crimean "Manor Otrada". How to get to it? The village of Novootradnoye, in which it is located, is connected to Kerch by a bus route. Boarding house address: Podgornaya street, 50.
