Vladimir Boyko: biography of early years

Vladimir Semenovich was born on September 20, 1938 in the village of Sadki, near Mariupol. His childhood can hardly be called happy. The Great Patriotic War took away the best years from the guy. Actually, even after its completion, life did not return to its usual course for a long time. Hunger, devastation and unemployment hung like a dark cloud over Mariupol for several more years. However, Vladimir Boyko himself admits that this time only hardened him - made him strong and uncompromising.

At school, the boy's progress was very mediocre. In those years, teachers could hardly say that he would achieve dizzying success in life. The only thing is that Vladimir was very fond of books. He read them everywhere: at home, at school and on the street. And the guy oftengot into fights. But this was not because he had a quarrelsome character, but because in his village it simply did not work out differently.

Beginning of adult life

Vladimir Boyko grew up quite quickly. At the age of 17, he already gets a job at a metallurgical plant named after. Ilyich. Then a very young guy is trusted with only the simplest position - a pipe fitter. A year later, he quits there, as he finds another calling.

A fishing trawl becomes a new place of work. This choice was due to the fact that from a young age, Vladimir Boyko dreamed of a career as a sailor. In memory of this, he even has a tattoo - a steering wheel on his left hand. But in the end, he did not succeed in making friends with the sea. In addition, in 1957 he was called to serve in the Soviet Army, after which he had to leave his beloved ship.

Vladimir Boyko returned home in the summer of 1960. Soon after that, he again decides to go to work at the plant. Ilyich. And from that moment begins his long journey to the heights of national and political glory.

The leader of the metallurgical plant named after. Ilyich

At the factory, a young specialist was given the position of a carver. I had to work in sheet-rolling shop No. 6. It would seem that this is an insignificant detail. But the truth is that Vladimir Boyko spent more than 20 years of his life in this shop.

Initially, he was a simple worker. Then in 1970 he graduated from the correspondence department at the metal-rolling institute and received the position of senior foreman. Three years later he rose to the postdeputy head of the production department. And so, in 1976, Vladimir Boyko became the head of the sheet-rolling shop No. 6.

And then his career only went up. In 1985, he was appointed head of the production department, where he quickly increased the number of products produced. And in 1987 Boyko Vladimir Semenovich became the official Deputy General Director for Production.

As CEO

The post of general director goes to Vladimir Semyonovich in 1990. It was a fateful moment, since the new leader had to pull all the production from the “stratum”. The reason for this was the collapse of the Soviet Union. All old contracts and outlets turned out to be illiquid in one day.

But Vladimir Boyko managed to cope with this task. He found new orders, not only in Ukraine, but also far beyond its borders. Thanks to this, the plant got a second wind. As the enterprise developed, equipment changed, innovative melting technologies were introduced, and the quality of products improved. As a result, the metallurgical plant named after Ilyich became a real giant, hosting thousands of workers.

Political activities

Vladimir Boyko became interested in politics only because it was impossible to manage the enterprise without it. After all, a plant with a multimillion-dollar profit often became the subject of raider attacks that could only be beaten off with great connections and power.

So in 1994year, the entrepreneur becomes a freelance adviser to Leonid Kuchma. New acquaintances help him get into the regional council of the Donetsk region. Here he has served as a deputy for 8 years. And only in the 2002 parliamentary elections did Volodymyr Boyko go to the Verkhovna Rada from the For a United Ukraine party.

He was subsequently re-elected to parliament. First on the SPU list, and then as a member of the Party of Regions.

Social and political portrait

Vladimir Boyko has become a real hero for the residents of Mariupol. During his reign, many enterprises of the city found a second life. At the same time, the workers themselves claim that their boss did not delay wages even in the most difficult times. Moreover, they were always fascinated by the fact that the director of a large enterprise drives a UAZ minibus, although he could buy any other car. For your information, Vladimir Boyko's fortune in 2007 was about $2.5 billion.

No less impressive is the contribution of the politician to the social sphere of the city. Under his leadership, the Ilyichevets sports complex, a new city stadium and a fountain in the central square were built. In addition, he constantly took care of the condition of roads, hospitals and government institutions.

Therefore, when Vladimir Boyko died on June 10, 2015, the whole city froze in silence - he was enveloped in grief. After all, the brightest and most honorable citizen of Mariupol left them.
