Many wild birds cannot breed in captivity, and if they do, they breed very badly, but this fact does not apply to budgerigars. These birds can also be bred in cages, for this it is only necessary to create favorable conditions and find a suitable pair. For these purposes, a one-year-old budgerigar is suitable. Bird breeding takes place in spring and summer, although eggs can be laid in autumn or winter.
In the warm season, the chicks appear he althier and without congenital deficiencies; in the cold season, they are weak and can die. If it so happened that the female began laying eggs in autumn or winter, then the birds need to provide an air temperature of 20 - 22 ° C and continue daylight hours with the help of lamps until 12 - 14 hours. Breeding budgerigars at home is possible only when a good pair is formed.
Young birds must be taken from their parents, which showed good qualities in incubating eggs, because not all females are good mothers. Family ties must be immediately excluded, because the result will be a sick and weak budgerigar. Reproduction is possible already at 8-9 months of bird life, but it is better to create a pair after a year, the most productive age is 2-3 years.
Parrots are considered flocking birds, they are more active and energetic if they live 6-8 individuals in one cage. Therefore, you can buy a large house and plant 3-4 pairs there at once. If the parrots are chosen correctly, then the male will soon take care of the female, shortly before laying eggs, they will become restless. Attach a nesting box with sawdust to the back of the cage in advance. A month before laying, birds should fly a lot, because an active lifestyle improves metabolism.
The budgerigar lays one egg a day. The reproduction of birds will be successful if the female immediately sits down to warm the first egg and continues laying. She can hatch 6 - 10 eggs. Already on the 18th day, the first chick appears, the next ones are born every other day. The amount of feed needs to be increased, add steamed oats, a chicken egg. The male brings food to the female, and she, in turn, regurgitates it and gives it to the chicks.
After 7 days, the eyes of little parrots open, after another 3 days the first feather stumps appear on the back and head, and by two weeks they are covered with fluff. real feathersappear gradually, first on the back, then on the head and wings. At this time, the chicks are very shy. In one month you get a fully feathered, fully formed budgerigar.
Reproduction of these birds is not too difficult, so some parrot owners decide to take this business seriously. At 40 days, the young feathered becomes completely independent, can fly and get its own food. It is at this age that parrots are separated from their parents in a separate cage. If you do this business constantly, you can create a good profitable business. How much a budgerigar costs depends on the age and he alth of the bird. On average, you can earn 500 - 700 rubles per individual.
Parrot breeding is not only profitable, but also a low-cost and pleasant business, because these cute "talkative" birds can cheer up and do not cause much trouble.
