Sociology is a humanitarian science that deals with the identification of patterns of human behavior in society. The field of activity of scientists is wide: we can say that these are all aspects of human life as a social being.

The object of study of science is, as you might guess, a person. The sociologist asks him about this or that question, then the collected data of a certain number of people (at least 100, for example) are analyzed to find the right answers.

The most common and well-known method of conducting research by sociologists is opinion polls. They are carried out in different forms (oral,written or otherwise), the goal of scientists is a wide variety of topics. In this regard, sociology, as noted, is of interest to almost everyone from a general educational point of view.

The Emergence of Sociology

As the modern science of sociology appeared at the end of the 19th century, then its formation followed. Such well-known personalities as Max Weber, Georg Simmel, Emile Durkheim invested in it. Auguste Comte is considered the founder. He also introduced the term itself into the everyday life of the scientific community.

The appearance of the first research papers related to the new "fashionable" science, namely in the 19-20th century, does not mean that such sociological research has not been carried out before.

The origins of sociology, like almost all sciences, lie in antiquity. In their writings, Aristotle and Plato tried to draw some parallels in human behavior.

Modern sociology, from a certain point of view, is the science of everything and nothing. Therefore, not all scientists still recognize its independence.

Professional holiday of a sociologist: where did the date come from

Officially, the day of the sociologist in Russia is attached to the date of November 14th. In addition, it is worth knowing that this is not a national holiday, but an international one. Why this particular day? Let's talk about this.

It would be logical to turn to history. In 1901, the Russian School of Sociological and Social Sciences appeared in France. It was a time of active development of many new lines of research. The opening of the school fell on November 14th. Sociologist's Day, perhaps that's why they began to celebrate it at this time.

BThe Russian school of sociology was lectured by the greatest minds of the era. Among them, even Vladimir Ilyich Lenin was noted.

How sociologist's day is celebrated

Today every group of people strives for originality (here it is, a sociological concept!). Since 1994, on November 14, events dedicated to the beginning of sociological science have been held at Russian universities.

We do not have generally accepted ideas about how to celebrate the day of a sociologist. Corporate events are the most common way to celebrate a professional date.

Consciously or accidentally, John Lennon sang about the problems considered in sociology in his song Imagine. It raises questions of a single society on the planet with common orders. There can be a lot of points of view on such an organization of life, and it is subjective.

Mostly sociologist's day is celebrated at specialized faculties of educational institutions, as well as those few whose profession is called "sociologist". Often social studies are an integral part of most areas of professional activity.

How to congratulate sociologist on the day

Let's imagine that we have a friend who has a sociological profession. The International Day of the Sociologist is just around the corner. Congratulations are not yet ready, what to do is not known. What to do?

No need to invent anything special. So far, no symbolic gift has been invented for the sociologist's day, such as valentines for Valentine's Day orcake for the new year. The best thing to do would be to surprise a sociologist friend, provide a verbal compliment, or just spend the day in a fun conversation. It is possible and necessary to give positive for any holiday and on a weekday!
