The pistol is equipped with a 4.5 mm steel fixed barrel. For the pneumatic model, barrel rifling is not provided, as is the Blowback effect. The design of wind weapons is characterized by an imitation of a lever that releases from a delay. Despite the fact that the designers made the trigger guard movable, it does not fulfill its function. The mechanics of the pistol is adapted for gas-balloon firing. The pneumat was equipped with a 12-gram siphon, the location of which was the pistol grip.

There is also an ammo clip. It is equipped with 17 steel balls, which can be copper or zinc coated. Unlike the PM Umarex Ultra, in the Borner PM 49, the combination of the clip and the cartridge in the handle is not provided. The gas cartridge is installed according to the standard scheme - by shifting back the plastic lining. The lamb of the clamping screw is missing. Instead, the pneumat was equipped with a hexagonal slot. It is removed using an L-shaped key, which goes into the PM 49 pneumatic repair kit. The blowgun is equipped with a trigger designed for double action. Shooting is carried out in two ways: after pressing the hook withself-cocking, or after cocking the trigger each time before firing. Judging by the reviews of the owners, using the second option, you have to spend much less effort. For the trigger in the design of the pistol, there are two moves: preliminary and working. The pistol is equipped with standard sights: the whole and the front sight, the space between which has become a place for the location of a special strip. Its task is to prevent the occurrence of glare during aiming.

About the principle of operation

Pneumatic PM 49 is equipped with a special expansion chamber, which is filled with gas. The design of the gun has a bypass valve with a stem. The blow of the trigger on it occurs after its breakdown from the sear. Using a special plastic nozzle, the developers connected the barrel to the gas fittings. Of all the spare parts for PM 49 Borner pneumatics, this nozzle is the only non-metallic one. We also connected the rear chamber and clip to each other. After pressing the trigger, the trigger hits the stock, as a result of which the ammunition moves into the barrel bore in the bypass valve with the help of a movable needle.

The gun is not equipped with any buttons and levers for removing clips from the handle. It is removed by pressing a special latch. Reliable fixation of the handle in the cage provides a special slot. In an effort to protect the owner from accidental firing, the designers equipped the pneumat with a flag mechanical fuse, for which two positions are provided: “fire” and"stop". In order to shoot, the flag must be moved up.

About renovation

Disassembly is carried out in stages:

• The barrel plug is dismantled with a flat screwdriver.
• Disconnect the two parts of the pneumatic body.
• Remove the trigger from the brace and spring. After that, you can remove the trigger.
• Take out the siphon bottle and barrel.

In the inside of the case, unscrew the screw that secures the silumin part that fixes the fuse. At this stage, you should be careful, because the gaskets located between the body of the gun and the fuse are often lost

About strengths and weaknesses

The external similarity of the pneumat with its combat prototype is an indisputable advantage of the blowgun, which is highly appreciated by weapon collectors. To avoid unpleasant incidents, the owner of the PM 49 should not show the gun in the presence of law enforcement officers and in crowded places. Thanks to a simple design, the owner can repair the PM 49 pneumatics with his own hands. Recreational shooting and various historical reconstructions are considered the main areas of application for this model of pneumatic.

Reviews about shortcomings are subjective. Some owners are disappointed that the PM 49 lacks the blowback effect. Some consumers perceive as disadvantages the imitation of a lever and a fixedshutter frame. Judging by the reviews, hex keys for tightening the clamping screws are very often lost.
