In 2014, the Monotowns Development Fund and the Ministry of Economic Development signed an agreement. It involves the provision of a subsidy of 3 billion rubles. It is also planned to allocate funds first in the amount of 4.5 billion, and then another 10.8. In total, by the end of 2017, the organization should receive about 29.1 billion rubles.

"Monocities Development Fund" is a team of specialists in various industries. Maxim Alekseevich Akimov is the chairman of the supervisory board of this organization. He holds the post of First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation. The Supervisory Board of the organization consists of Irina Vladimirovna Makieva, Andrey Yurievich Ivanov, Muslimov Eldar Sergeevich, Osmakov Vasily Sergeevich, Vovchenko Alexey Vitalievich, Nikitin Andrey Sergeevich, Tsybulsky Alexander Vitalievich, Sapelin AndreyYurievich.

Monotowns are a legacy of the industrial age. Their appearance is due to the modernization of the 20th century, which included a command control system, as well as a special distribution of the resource base. There are 319 settlements in the Russian Federation that have the status of single-industry. Over 15 million people live in them. Increasing their level of security, as well as the economic and social development of these cities, is a national task.
It cannot be solved separately by local self-government. During the work of the fund, it is planned to actively apply to the experience of other countries. Monotowns have a number of advantages. First of all, we are talking about a high concentration of educated people. There are settlements where the number of residents with secondary specialized and higher education is very significant. High-level infrastructure has been created in some single-industry towns. Usually in such settlements there are powerful energy and engineering projects. They meet the needs of the main city-forming enterprise.
Special mention should be made of large factories. It is important that in many settlements the city-forming enterprise operates andtoday, which determines the organizational and economic structure of the territory. This fact can be considered positive, even if a certain plant does not reach its full capacity. However, single-industry towns also have serious problems that need to be addressed.
